I use Jenny's phone number as most places will allow you to key in a phone number as a substitute. It is especially fun at Safeway as their cashiers are required to say your name when telling you to have a good day. Some area codes are funnier than others. I think when I used a Los Angeles one my name was Mr. Fuchinger and I had to help the cashier on the pronunciation.
Of course this only works when you pay cash as your credit card will override the name.

Back on topic though. WTF? Who gives any card to the cashier before putting their groceries on the conveyor belt? I know of Sam's/Costco that needs a card first but they use boxes.
Honestly I can't remember ever being asked if I wanted paper or plastic at any store.

    Qute from the XBMC Wiki:
Does XBMC support High Definition (HD) resolution media?

Yes and no, but the answer is a little more complicated than that, see bellow:
    XBMC for XBox

In general, it can not play native HD format videos, but can upscale SD or lower format video to HD resolutions

A standard XBox (with the XBox HD AV Pack) is capable of outputting HD signals. XBMC can quite easily upscale all low-resolution videos (like retail DVD Movies) to 720por 1080i.

Unfortunately, the XBox's 733Mhz Intel Pentium-III CPU, is to slow to play native HD video (Microsoft® and DivX® recommends a 2.4 Ghz PC + 384MB RAM for 720p MPEG-4 playback!). This means that you might only get maybe 10-20fps (frames per seconds) displayed which would appear so jerky because of all dropped frames that it will be un-viewable.

    Upgraded Processor

It is possible to upgrade the processor in an XBox (for example, with the DreamX-1400 from FriendTech, to one which is at capable of decoding some native HD videos (i.e. those encoded with MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 ASP (H.263) at up to 720p). FriendTech do offers trade-in). Note! You must enable/setup your HDTV settings in Microsoft dashboard, (on NTSC Xboxes).

I do consulting for small businesses and the only people that don't complain about vista are the ones that use it to play solitaire and check their email. (not computer literate in the least)
The ones that complain the loudest are those that picked up a brand new computer to replace their old one only to find out the new one runs much slower. I have 'upgraded' many vista laptops and desktops to XP in the last year each charging the same as a virus/rootkit removal plus MS license. Laptops are the worst, especially HP, it is like they are intentionally hiding XP drivers for things as simple as a sound cards. I'm still able to find workarounds but in all my years working with PCs I have never seen support for a predecessor OS being unsupported so quickly. Even with the push for 2k/XP there were several years of support for 9x users.

I still try to keep an open mind, I was skeptical of 2000 and XP when it first came out, but I am finding it very difficult to swallow vista.
My most recent endeavor trying to make vista work for someone was on a brand new state of the art quad core computer. It ran at a decent speed, no complaints other than the printer (brand new HP officejet pro) would intermittently fail to respond. The network card would work for 5 minutes and then go to 'Media Disconnected' status for no reason even after replacing the motherboard (on-board nic), building wiring, HP ProCurve module, patch cords, etc. I could boot a knoppix or ubuntu live CD and have no networking problems at all. Checked the latest Marvell drivers, Bios, etc. The only solution was to install XP.

I have yet to see with my own eyes a power user that is happy with vista. So far I only hear about it on the internet from fanboys. By power user I mean someone that runs multiple applications in a productive environment and are able to do so at the same speed or better than XP without having to know how their computer works.

I keep trying vista myself as it is my business to do so, but I haven't seen any compelling reason yet to recommend it to anyone. To me it is still a downgrade. I'll keep trying it as future updates come out.
Part of me thinks those touting it on the net are shills from MS. Just like aliens, until I see it with my own eyes I'm not going to believe it.

Even under full load, several torrents running, ReplayTVs sending shows, it has never given me a problem.

You can even get it in a nice power saving box at Soekris
Write the m0n0 image to a CF card and you are ready to go. With it's very intuitive web interface you will be up and running without having to learn any command lines, etc.
Any old PC with a couple NICs and a bootable CD or USB flash will work too, but in the long run the PC will cost you about $15/month in power.

There are many howtos etc at http://m0n0.ch
I can't recommend it more. I have deployed dozens of these to replace underpowered routers and pretend firewalls.

One thing you will need to learn is how NAT and Rules work on this FW. You first need to create NATs for incoming ports that you want open. During the NAT creation process there is an option to auto-add it to the firewall Rules to make it easier. But creating a NAT alone without a Rule will not allow incoming traffic. Plenty of tutorials are on their site.

If enough spam is coming from an IP it can and likely will get blacklisted. Cox just assigns a new IP to the blacklisted server and gets around it while dealing with the blacklists to get their old ip removed. Dealing with millions of customers where more than half probably have no security software running it is no surprise that this happens. Note: I'm not claiming I know how Spamhaus works internally, just my observations. I'm assuming that much of what goes on there is automated.
When I hear a complaint from someone getting mail refused to a hotmail account. I check the IP in the message headers of the returned mail of which MTA tried to communicate with hotmail and check it against Spamhaus and find it blacklisted. Calling the ISP tech support does nothing as there is no way to reach any NOC personnel from a call center nor does the support rep have any clue what Spamhaus or blacklists are. The admins in the NOC eventually correct the problem sometimes in as long as a day or two. Meanwhile users just have to resend their message and hope it goes through a different MTA within their ISP.
If Gmail gets blacklisted they will probably do the same, I'm sure they have much more than one MTA.

The Eye-Fi is a novel idea but getting a camera to stay on long enough has been a challenge, most have power save features that only let you select a minute or two. I suppose a way around this would be to wire something to press a button every 30 secs to keep it awake.
Being on a limited budget I purchased a $80 7MP Camera from Walmart and found that it had the option to stay on. Opened it up, soldered wires for power (3VDC) and two for the shutter control. A cheap PIR motion detector with a relay will close the connection and snap a picture. Bought a $15 mini tripod and removed the legs and mounted it to the ceiling. Everytime motion is detected the camera snaps a pic and the Eye-Fi transfers a high resolution jpeg to the PC via Wifi.

For the most part it works really good, other than the camera was too cheap to do wide angle, and had no focus control, so the images are blurry. Cameras that enclose the SD card in a metal chassis will present a challenge for range.
I think enough tinkering with other cameras will do the trick. When I called Eye-Fi tech support they never heard of anyone using their product for security and couldn't recommend a cheap, but good camera that will have the 'stay on' feature.
