We have a supply chain Fascist (just kidding Dan!), he's profiled on the web site under executive team, look under vp of manufacturing. This is exactly the kind of thing that he does address.
I just drove by thier flagship site on shoreline, I was screaming out "Lame..LAME...LAME", it's right there, this is -so- lame. I'm so glad my Indy has the old logo as the new one is -LAME-.

Someone earlier brought up Borland. Well, the reason Borland changed thier name to Inprise was because they had a ton of product that they wanted to write off, and having to throw it away because of improper packaging was as good a way as any, and while I don't see how one can equate a 400$ software package to costly computers, I don't know, this could be one reason why they did it.
For the record, this is the -dumbest- renaming I've ever seen. Well, it should make hiring from Silicon Graphics ^h^H^H^H^H^HH^ sgi easier though.
It sort of reminds me of the kind of bullshit that tandem went through before being sold to Compaq. Tandem changed the logo from one color to another and called it revolutionary.

We've both been parodying ms for as long as I can remember. Satire and Parody are ripe for the attack. On another note, rememeber (cybernet, you should read this), you must prove that you have definitive prior art to defend a trademark, and MS -never- used the where do you want to go tomorrow in an advertisement or to sell product, no prior art, no case.
Anyhow, we at VA aren't exactly bracing for the impact of such a lawsuit. Does anyone know how german law works on such things? That's the real question.
Wow, I am Relieved, the people who brought us SCO, AIX and DG/UX ^h^h^h Tru64 are here to save the day. We are so lucky.
*thud*
Wow, haven't had a good laugh like this in a long time. I am not alone in that I thnk that -any- company that spends time developing Unix from scratch today, when there are such great open source ones like Linux available, are simply foolish.
I don't really feel all that bad. Our's will be out very soon, we have had one since well before LWCE and have a very rigerous testing schedule that we put such things through.
This is not true. The public reading this should know that that Alison is a penguin computing employee and Sam Ockman's Girlfriend. Real nice ethics Alison, you should let the public know who you are when you slam a competitor.(In case you have trouble with the word, it's : ethics)

Okay, now I know that this post will be followed with "But my x doesnt work!" And obviously we have a little ways to go, but I didn't think that drivers were really a problem for Linux.
Admittidly, I'd like to see usb support (Inaky?) now, but it seems to me that Linux has superior device support right now. I mean, Linux supports things that NT doesn't for cripes sake. I am going to agree with the previous poster that this will only result in more binary only proprietary code. (Which is Bad).
Well, eric has spoken well as to why we no longer sell alphas, so I'll comment on some other issues, namely that of an open standard CPU.
Now I don't speak for Intel in any way, but it seems to me that Intel invests in linux companies like VA (Whom I work for) and RedHat because of one simple reason : Multiple OS's mean more chips are sold. I can assure you that there is nothing in our deal that keeps us from using other chip makers.
Okey Taco, what I would like to see is tying the user scores to the Everything project, while removing the arbitrary two post limit on topics. This would be cool and would allow for everythign to grow even cooler than it is.
Yeah, it's a joke, but it's a well written joke. If only the real stories about MS & Linux were as well written. The author worked hard on this one. -- Grant Chair, Linux Int. VP, SVLUG

Would you rather we didn't host them? I'm a total push over for hosting, I admit, but this is important for linux that these projects get hosted, I'm proud to do it.
