Most of my CD purchases are done online these days. I have afast enough connection that I'd rather download the MP3s than wait the days+ until I can get delivery.
alternative distribution works well for punk/metal

"and the alternative distribution systemss don't work very well for anything but Britny and dubs of live Grateful Dead"
Touch&Go, Dischord, Sub Pop, Metal Blade etc are all record labels that each market to their own audience. I would guess that only a very small portion of the music released by these labels ever gets radio play, and can be impossible to find in all but the most open of record stores. Fans of the music find the the ability to order what they are looking for, though. Alternative means of distribution has always been how this muisc gets found.
Dischord has been artist run since the beginning and has always encouraged the consumer to order directly from them at a nice realistic price. This is a label that does it way more right than most, by being very active as an alternate distribution system.
My 400Mhz G3 PowerBook runs 10.1.5 and iPhoto just fine. It does have gobs of RAM. I have noticed that OS X runs slower on older iBooks/iMacs than my same-era PowerBook, though...
Those emails in asian languages are really neat looking on a system w/ asian character support and anti-aliased text... so much more beautiful that the English spam.
I don't remember the exact quote to trigger it, but there is a 4 or 5 step response at ask jeeves that is in response to some questiosn about african swallows or something....
Nader said something along those lines recently... and has been since at least 1998. There is an article co-authored by Nader here that starts off "Everyone who uses a computer or depends on computers has an interest in seeing Microsoft's anticompetitive and anticonsumer practices curtailed by antitrust authorities."
Straight up, I'm fairly certain that any elected pres. would have pursued a vigorous war on terrorism. Other than that, what has Bush done to agree with?
I'm not trying to be 'anti' about this... it just seems like a neat place to ask the question. Would you like to have seen drilling in the Alaskan Natl. Wildlife Refuge? Do you think that Cheny+Bush's ties to the oil industry give them unbiased insite into how to best meet the nation's energy needs? Are you in favor of a general roll-back of environmental laws? Does the idea of a brokered treaty on environmental issues offend you (Quito)? Have you been in favor of Bush's 'hands off' treatment of Israel&the Palenstinians until recently? Are you in favor of missile defence? Do you have feeling either way about deficit spending?
And, to look at the other motivation, what stance of Gore's did you disagree with so strongly?
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that, based on your email address, some of this might have to do with general preference for overt Christions to prefer the republican right over the democrat left. If I am correct, could I get you to take a moment and explain to me why that is? And, if you feel qualified to answer, why aren't Christins more concerned with the environment?
For work I communicate with a large number of Pakistani, Indian, and Middle Eastern students and student wanna-be types. I get flooded with whatever virus is current...
On the laptops 'forward delete' is available, I believe, as 'function-delete. And when running x-on-x, a new xterm window isn't Terminal.app so you might be taken care of there too - I'm not too clear on what you are talking about (as my Unix experience is limited, not through any lack of clarity on your part...).
...is that in three or four years you will have to invent a reason to buy that really cool newer version, as your old computer will still be running just fine...
I'm half of 2 person IT department. The environment was ASP on NT before I arrived and too much has been developed to switch now. We are small and busy and don't necessarily have 100% to give to keeping up with patches and MS Critical Updates - I would certainly be able to engineer a switch to Apache on Windows away from IIS so very easily if only there was ASP support.
It has been my experience that a great percentage of AOL users simply do not know that they can use any browser other than 'AOL'. They do not think of it as a browser, but an application called 'AOL'. ('How can you run AOL in Internet Explorer?' 'Can it run in Word, too?')
I use Mac OS X. There are atleast 3 Mozilla based browser floating around for OS X. And, for yucks, I _just_ installed a version of Mozilla that uses Xfree to display - I wanted to see how it might look different and I wanted the experience(wow, the text sure looks crappy)(but the code renders the same). The point is that Mozilla is available here and everywhere - certainly one the 'most available' applications that I have experienced. It seems like every permutation of every platform has a Mozilla available.
Just recently had my first proxy experience setting up my gf's iMac for UVA. Mozilla worked just fine from off campus using the proxy.
Metal Blade distributes the mighty lamb of god and GWAR,so they can't be all bad...

Both of my 'real jobs' have had Netware networks. I don't like Netware, but having a Mac client is a good thing.

Depending on how long it looks like 10.2 is going to take, you might want install Fink and get CUPS that way (http://fink.sourceforge.net/pdb/package.php/cups)

Does this worm run on all platforms, or just x86?
I though 10 GB would be plenty too, but now I have 12+Gb of MP3s...
its just cheap plastic crap with an alt operating system...
The site www.greens.org is running Apache/1.3.24 (Unix) PHP/4.2.1 on Linux

unless by date you mean 'frantically and repeatedly masturbate to'...
It does vector and is even a bit more open....

I've been getting the wierdest little pictures from this latest virus. I dunno if they are swiped from someones drive or part of the virus itself.
