but lets just forget that MS infringed on apples IP that apple copied from xerox
the differance between copied and infringed is that when jobs looked at xeroxs PARC os(es maybe) they told him xerox didn't care about the technology because they were in the copier business.
there is nothing new under the sun. meaningles meaningles everything is meaningles
in different strains of lin and different programs running on said OSes CnP is sometimes automatic when highlighting and other times with different keyboard shortcuts. this seems to vary depending on the program and not simply with the os.
and THAT is frustrating. to accidently highlight soemthing and putting something on the "cilpboard" overtop of what you wanted to paste somewhere else.
it is an issue with standardisation within linux. i believe it should be locked into the OS or that programs agree to use the same shortcuts as the os. instead of confusing the user.
the only times i have had problems with firefox was while playing www.runescape.com and FF's quality feedback agent started up. I lose more helmets that way.
I personally thoroughly enjoyed the movies. I also enjoyed the books. They both entertained me, kept my attention, and engaged my limited intellect.
I was just seconding the observation that the movies and the books are quite different.
The main diference between the Earthsea and LOTR screenplays is that We (sadly) do not have Tolkien to ask how he liked the film rendition, and the director did not claim Tolkien spoke to him in a dream and said it was good.
IF we had seen more of Cate and Liv then I would have to agree the movies improved on the books BUT as it is in thier own medium they are both worthy of consideration.
"With an entirely cross-platform software stack the OS becomes the least important part of the system, and can be swapped out at will.
The ap is what has locked users into the ms os. backwards comptibility has been ms' marketing siren song. now with winxp, ms has made using my bosses financial software an increadible pain. we are running a seperate win98 machine next to the winxp machine. MS support thought this was a fine idea. except for the three days it took me to track down the drivers for a pc we got from the recycling center.
true crossplatform software could be the end of the closed source OS
My PHB has some old financial software that i had running on his XP machine that ceased running when I installed the SP2. when I called MS support they asked me how I even got it running before the patch. they seemed to think that my setting up an old box running 98 next to the XP machine was a good solution and called it fixed.
ATI makes video cards. The average office has no need of a high end video platform for their desktops.
this is precisely where ati may get new customers. from businesses that never felt the need for thier products before. if only because thier aps go 64 bit and they are forced.
This is going to appeal to geeks that make their own machine and finally have an excuse to go 64-bit.
from what i've read from the reviews I would still want a high end expansion card compared to this on board video.
i do currently have a pair of 60gig WD hds that i bought because they were 10 dollars cheaper than the 60gig maxtors(they were also ata100 not ata133 something I felt I could live with at the time).
they both get hot enough to nearly burn my fingers. while my maxtors barely get warm. the heat from the WDs inspired me to get hd cooling fans. i now have 16 fans in my box. cool air emanates from it.
maybe i should have checked the operating temps of the ones that failed.
hehe i felt some voltage once...(ok well more than once)
I was trying to see if I could resurect a monitor and fired it up while the case was open. "luckily" it only went thro my hand to something else in the back of the monitor. I felt 5 pulses of electricity before I jerked my hand away. so it took me about.045 seconds to pull it away. seemed like forever at the time.
since then if i can't correct a monitor digitally from the outside I send it to the recycling center.
the part that made me ill was him not knowing what doohicky he knocked off.
I can relate to components not fitting in certain configurations;CD rom drives that were 2cm to long for the mobo/case combination i was trying to install them in, or powersupplys right up against cpu heatsinks blocking the air flow. with infinite combinations comes infinite ways to screw things up.
I once put a HUGE heatsink/fan combination on a CPU for a friend. it was an aerocool deep impact limited edition (gold plated heatsink with iridescent fans) as seen here without the 80mm fans mounted on it or the gold plating. i had to use a dremel to trim the shroud around one of the fans so it would clear a memory module. but I figured "hey, you can't see it from my house"
i am not one to toot any given distros horn but...
mandrake10 installed all my drivers (the sound drivers were the ones that I had problems with in mdk9 AND appears to automount my keyfob USB flash memory "HD".
Kopete was(is always?) installed by default. and is a nice little program that manages and interfaces with all of the IM services I've heard of and a few i hadn't. If someone can configure or tell me(you) how to configure audio chat via Kopete i'm pretty sure there must be ONE of the IM programs that will run on MAC and MS

as you may notice i left out a value judgement.

that the fellowship of the rings screen play was written based on the animation lotr"fotr from a "few" years ago

it sounds odd to me that something with PCI in it's name is faster than agp.
I'm ripping my hair out and wishing it was nvidia because of ATI's atrocious lack of linux support.
hehehe
using a wintv tunercard in a desktop PC i was watching tv over a T-10 network.
the entire C: drive was shared and i just doubleclicked the wintv shortcut in program files and VIOLA
there really is nothing new anymore
anything like desktop anywhere.... I was pretty sure they already did at PARC which is where Jobs stole the mac windows from that bill stole later.
there can be no ICE engine in a vehical that adheres to NEDRA rules
The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Dragsters may not have an electric motor configured to add power to the wheels.

i have found that sneezing in the general direction caused Western Digital harddrives to fail.
whereas my maxtor hds are all surviving some (4 gigs) are 6 years old.
it wasn't properly seated and I bumped it fully seating it.
it caused the magic smoke to escape from the mobo but the card works fine.

my wifes uncles PC was online unprotected (by a router or switch)for 3 days(i consider it a miracle) and _nothing_ happened to his PC.
