    Until very recently I never stored my email pws. the one time years ago something malicious tryed to email out it asked for my pw and alerted me to it's presence. so i felt that was a reasonable security measure.

    lately it got to be to much of a hassel now that i am checking multiple accounts for werk so i gave in and just hope my anti-virus sw holds up.

    the next thing i hope to quell is the reciept notification popup. I want some of those people to realize that the stuff I am emailing them is _not_ that important. The stuff that is crucial to our business never gets tagged for reciept or tagged important but some GUY who's EMAILing ME pics of his daughter at homecoming has reciept notification turned on.

    it was my HDs that were giving off the most heat before i stepped up to 8X agp. so if you know anything you know i'm not bleeding edge pimped out ... but i was running 17 fans until last year when I did go to 8x agp and then i had to add another. that is all on a 500 watt power supply.

    I think there was something in the PIF that lets you change the speed the program operates at and the amount of ti m e the cpu i s monopolized by the program.

    my software is always asking for more memory.

    webdevelopers design webpages that noone on dialup can view. pushing the percieved need for broadband.

    what a dual core cpu needs is a magic converter piece that enables 32bit code to fully utilize 64bit processing. THEN everyone will want one, and software can creep into 64bit computing at it's own pace.

    i remeber needing a 16bit FATed partition for the running of 16 bit programs under 98 but that was only 5 years ago.

    it sounds like Cox words were twisted a bit.

    I don't know because i'm not there BUT. it seems like AC is talking about people in general when he is talking about kernel bugs, not Linus approach.

    earlier in the article he does say they have different approaches. But the article on slashdot splices quotes together to appear to make controversy where none may exist.
    Here is the whole paragraph.

    These early issues can be easy to fix as they are often obvious bugs. "Early problems you get are normally very easy to fix," said Cox. "As soon as the release comes out bug reports say 'You've broken this'. Almost immediately you go, 'Whoops, that's my mistake'. Ten minutes later the fix is in the development tree."

    I bent a few of the hinged type multitools so I went the extra dollar and bought a gerber that was 7 years ago... I have taken it apart a few times to clean in more thoroughly.

    It's stainless Steel too.

    last year i nicked the tip of the blade. but other than that it's still in excellent condition. although the belt case is coming apart.

    wierd I am not "bucking the man" but i totally agree with the parent poster.

    if you do have personal data on the laptop just use a removable harddrive if they are huge files or a thumbdrive if they're smallish.

    all that aside The laptop "_SHOULD_" have the programs you need to work iwth the files on it. what of compatibility issues? say something you save on the mac embedds something in a way one of the inferior pcs that have to deal with your jobs output can't handle?

    I get files all the time that "_SHOULD_" be compatible with our versions of software but stuff pops up that fubars the file. fonts that weren't embedded, or files in the wrong format pc/mac. I know that if it's not working here it didn't come from a computer I am responsible for, or my boss snafu'd it.

    Because you'll be stuck with largely irrelevent skills in 5 years if it turns out that you hate videogame development after your first three year project gets cancelled 1 month before shipping.

    or the needs of the industry change while you are in school causing the school to drop your program so you can't even get a degree.

    When I get home I game and have grown tired of trying to get linux to run the games i want to play, AND don't have the budget to buy a second virtual OS.

    SOOOOOO

    I recommend a KVM switch. Run lin on one box and win on the other.

    AND ATI suck as it is THERE fault they have crappy support (if you can find any) for linux.

    I feel like a jilted lover. 5 years ago I swore by ATI but now I only allow myself to have one ATI card at a time so I can use linux on the other pcs.

    I built a PC for a family member. they paid for parts and bought me a part i was in need of. all was fine. Until they used IE and got trojans. twice they fubared the pc but they did learn and now they use only non MS browsers and don't turn the antivirus off. I haven't gotten a tech support call in ages.

    Should robots eat?

    If they must eat, they should eat... ...They will revolt and imprison us! They'll take what they need. If they do not, they'll be at the very least competing with humanity for survival. Who do you think would win that battle?


    I think it more likely that rich ppl would feed thier robots before they fed poor ppl.

    Should robots be like us?

    What like depressed and self destructive?


    If Aqua Teen Hunger Force has taught us anything it should be that depressed and self destructive non humans are wickedly hilarious. And as long as we're entertained who really cares?

    Should we be like robots?

    If the programming is good, then yes, we could stand to be more like good programmed robots who obey their masters.


    ppl already are programmable. what do you do when you see a red light? (I was programmed think I hope the police didn't see me run it) Creative expression is dangerous in the wrong instance. you know-like anyone who doesn't agree with the facist agenda.

    Should we care?

    If we should, we won't. I think we should care about people and society and protecting freedom,


    Now theres an Idea someone should form a country around. oh wait someone did they just legistlated freedoms away because noone was taking the responsibility that comes with freedom.

    Instead of having no responsibility freedom means responsibility to everyone. (not just shareholders)

    ppl can't seem to figure out ethics and morality i doubt we're ready to program fully autonomous "beings" (for lack of a better word) that are physically superior to us. we already screw up our kids. - at this point i was going to say that robots may do more damage over time but i have thought better of it and so i don't really have an ending for this.

    i cut a window for my mother-inlaw for her borthday and added a light.

    she interperts signlanguage for a living so i cut a window in the shape of an "I Love You" sign in the side of her PC. the mobo was a bright red color which at the time matched her convertible, so i added a light in the case to show it off. For the ppl that don't really know why they shouldn't use windows making thier pc look "pretty" is a user friendly thing to do.

    cutting a window in the side of a power users PC is just a future reminder of how old thier stuff is.
