Buy a program like Ghost. Then after you have made a fresh install of windows (use a c partition which is not too large) with the tools that are needed. Then make an image of the drive, store it on another partition. Then re-ghost every month. You can put it in a batch file. Its quick and efficient and kicks all the crap out.

If there's anything indicating JPEG2000 support for Mozilla, The Gimp, Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop in the near future, I missed it.
And be brought to a page where you can download a jp2 trial plugin for Photoshop, and using the dropdown menu you can get a plugin for your browser as well. (Assuming you use the right browser of curse;-)
From the site: DjVuLibre includes a standalone viewer for X11, a browser plug-in (works with Netscape 4 and 6, Mozilla, Galeon, Konqueror, Opera), decoders, simple encoders, and utilites.
But not plugin for Internet Explorer, eh? tsk tsk:)
As the german article pointed out. There used to be two different shows, a professional and a personal, but they are merging - next year the outdated 'rules' will be changed so that sony can put up their consoles.
But overall, he has the chance to make a coherent hole of the trilogy, which is something I don't feel Lucas has been able to do with the time he's had.
A hole eh? Well, i guess that's what they turned Isengaard into *G*
If they are offering their services to Americans and offering downloads to Americans, they have to expect that they might be sued by Americans in America.
Everybody sues everybody in America, be it ever so silly to the rest of the world.
Be that as it may, you can't really depend that any shop who sell something over the internet must know all the laws of all the countries on the planet - (if you do that only the very big megastores would be able to afford a site)
This is not relevant to the case at hand. They have been payed, period. And if they have been payed by people that expect that once the development has been made they can keep cashing in and in and in, well then they are still amoral greedy bastards.
On the other side, as a Security Manager in a bank who's sometimes asked to go find out if person XYZ has been accessing nakedhairyeyebrowedcheerleaders.com, I can see how this utility might make it impossible for me to do my job.
So tell them, "its no longer possible"
you might also suggest; if this person is doing his job, what does it matter if he watches po*n - and if he doesn't do his job... fire him. Simple.
You know, I don't really have a problem with them charging $.25 per codec. The developers of the MPEG-4 standard deserve to be compensated for their time,...
They have been... they got their salary. It's wrong and imoral for them to keep cashing in. Apart from the generally amoral software industry, where else do you see this? Do Volvo keep wanting money each time you drive a car you bought from then? Does an Architekt get money each time you use a house he designed? Does Joe Schmo who build a road get any money when people use the road?
So more power to 'em, I say.
Well, I say greedy bastards, and hope the open source community comes up with something better.
When you need a PC program there is usually one link, perhaps two -when you want to download something which has been ported from unix/linux there are 20 links all pointing to 200 directories with different content. Arrgh!
No way in hell I'm going to buy a program that can record programs but won't let me save them.
(Ok, so i read that some people can hack the tivo, but that's not what they had in mind when they made it)
http://www.jasc.com/ the producers of Paint Shop Pro (among a few other things) its very nice, and one i use (legit) - their support people are idiots, but then that seems the way support is these days, money or not.
Adobe did a pretty legitimate job (which of course nobody here bothers to notice) in estimating software losses. They took the development costs for porting to Asian languages and subtracted how much revenue it generated. It came out negative, hence, they are actually losing money.
This is putting a spin on it. Its more truthfull to say: They are spending more money than they earn. That could be due to other factors.
...because their taxes are so low compared to the rest of the world. Of course they still bitch and moan about it because they don't know much about other countries.
Your comparing two very different things. People don't need Photoshop to edit images, hell most people couldn't make use of most of the features even if the package was free. Photoshop and applications in its price range (and higher) are priced based on the work that went into them and the value of what comes out.
You just said that most people couldn't figure out how to use the program, so the value of what comes out its closed to zero - hence the price should be close to zero??
The first postulate, that the price is based on the work that goes into them may be believed by some, but a lot of people don't believe that at all. They feel it is an outright lie, and that the producers are mostly selling to companies whome they believe can pay through the nose, and so they MAKE them. Ie, the price is WAY overrated. - Right or wrong, this is very much a motivating factor.
Bottom line, if you think the software costs too much then you don't really need it.
Nonsense, and you should know.
Dont bitch and moan about the cost of Photoshop and don't condone the piracy of the software.
People have a right to complain about anything they feel it is right to complain about, and a duty to oppose that which they think is amoral.
When even Commander Taco has stopped reading Slashdot ;)
internet explorer didn't contuinally tell you "this page may not display as intended - click ok to continue" ...

Love it that someone has moderated the wife to be as offtopic ;)
For a moment there i thought he was selling his pet hamster or something :)
Congrats Taco, may you get all the love and hapiness that real nerds only dream about!

RIKER: Teevee?
SONNY: Yeah, boob-tube...

Evil Asians pirate programs from Adobe.
Adobe says "We'll stop selling them to you if you keep pirateing them!"
Hm... no wait...
Adobe stops selling Asian versions of their program since their translater wants millions in salery.
Evil Asians priate programs from Adobe in a langauge they don't understand.
Evil Asians learn english.
Evil Asians keep pirating programs from Adobe.
Adobe starts marketing Photoshop on Mars
If they have to spend $750,000 to develop a Chinese language version of Photoshop
..they are incompetent. There is no way it should be that expensive.
If JASC (and I have no idea who JASC is,
