  12. Distribution no, recording yes. on Why Distributing Music As 24-bit/192kHz Downloads Is Pointless · · Score: 1

The point of this post is that distributing audio at 192/24 is pointless. This is correct. There are lots of reasons to record audio at high bit rates/depths. Among these is the fact the higher harmonics greatly affect processing and is big part f the reason many engineers will still run their audio through analog equipment for "that sound". In post production for tv and film high sample rates allow for greater flexibility in time stretching and pitch shifting. Also for archival purposes it is always better to have more and be able to give out only what is necessary. There are various tests with trained listeners being able to discern between high sample rate (96,192) and regular(44,48) sample rates. This was in a controlled in environment on proper equipment able to reproduce the high frequencies up to to 100k. As per the nyquist theorem digital audio limits the highest frequency to half of the sampling rate, thus the highest reproducible frequency with 192khz audio is a 96khz tone. This is nearly 4 times the highest frequency we can hear but the harmonics ainteract with the frequencies we can hear.

The only time in my life I have not been able to get it up was for this chick and then she cheated on me and dumped me before I found out, good riddance! But the point is my dick knew not only that she was not very hot but that she was completely wrong for me. In case anyone wants to rag on me I have had sex with 3 girls since then and been dating the last one for more than a year and I have never had a problem getting it up, so it was the girls fault not mine. 21. Re:What could possibly go wrong? on Canada Considering Online Voting In Elections · · Score: 1

Lots of things could go wrong and It seems that everyone is focusing on that. What about everything that could go right, I don't know about Canada but the us needs this. The main reason that the poverty and education gap remains so wide and continues to grow is because poor ignorant people either can't vote or don't. If everyone could vote from their house their phone or their local public library voter turnout would be masive, the votes of the rich and powerful that run the country would finally become a minority, even uninformed votes arebetter than votes only from one pArt of society. Obama proved that the Internet can be used to mobilize votes and we had a better election turnout than usual. But many people do t have the luxury to take the day off work and stand in line and wait to cast a physical ballot. Granted we need to put some serious work into security and organization, how about make voting an addition to your taxes which you can already file online. You do your taxes you cast your vote, we know who cast what vote and it is secured by both the IRS and the online voting agency. most important is that people who actuAlly need things to change get to vote. Money and education should not equal power, I am tired of being stepped on by banks and insurance companies because most of the people who vote greedy money grubbing conservatives who just want to line their pockets at the expense of the poor. For example my small town bank went under in the recession, I lost my job and I was left bank of America asmy bank. My old bank allowed me to have a Check card but when I had no money in my account it would not let buy something. It strikes me that that is a good reason to have a card it can tell how much is in your account and not let you spend what you don't have. Bank of America allows you to overdraft your account as much as you want toand then charges you fee's. This is. System designed to hurt poor people, rich people don't overdraw their accounts. There is no reason BOA can't stop transactions that will overdraw your bank account but they don't because they want to profit off your poverty. This should be illegal, use the card how it is supposed to be used, force banks to prevent overdrafts for free by stopping overdraft transactions before they occur. I would much rather be told my card was denied than be charged $35. If I write a check and overdraw my account I will happily pay the fine but there is no excuse for banks to allow overdrafts on a card. The list goes on and on but it should not be cheaper to be rich, but is. If you are weLthy you get cheaper insurance, lower interest rates, cars that don't need maintenance. It should be reverse.

Monster cables are the biggest rip of in the history of rip offs. The only difference between them and other cables is they cost more and look prettier. One you get past really crappy cables they are all the same, you are just paying more for brand. This is especially true for any type of digital cable since digital either gets through or does not. I am an audio engineer so as far as whats better between hand made and factory made? It depends on the cable type and size, sometimes people don't make the cable you want and you have to build it. If care is taken then hand made cables can be as good as commercial ones. And the subtle differences that high end calbes give you only matter in high end analog audio world. If you have a $50,000 + home entertainment system then by all means go out and buy solid gold calbes or whatever monster sells for the most, otherwise you wont even know the difference.

You sir are a fool! When people cooperate with eachother in different fields you improve products and develop new technologies. Without this kind of building on our forefathers shoulders we would still be grunting around in caves picking berries and hunting mammoths!

A good idea is nothing without the designer the manufacturer the engineers and the distribution company, but at the same time all of those companies are nothing if they have no basis for a product.

Often designers dont know the first thing about engineering, they just ahve a good idea that is user friendly, often manufacturers build terrible products because they just build it they do not properly develop the usability and marketability of that device. A great product starts with a design that may just be drawing with a few specific features, without engineers and manufactureres it is nothing, but if the engineers designed the device it might well be altogether practical with no aesthtic or ergonomic attributes just functions that are hard to use.

Comon our world is based on cell based development look at the movie industry, and the game industry. Doing everything yourself is 1 not feasible, 2 takes too long, 3 lacks review process, 4 misses all the valuable input other members of your team may contribute.

As an engineer who works in both Music and Film I resent the fact that people say that stealing music does not matter.

I will be the first to agree that the big publishers and distributors get too much money for the small role they play.

No matter how you look at it though stealing or copying music or video is wrong. Why don't all of you people who think it is ok to pirate, go and produce a record or movie and see how much it costs. You need engineers musicians a studio a marketing team camera people all the gear and personnel and the distribution company these things are expensive.

Good audio engineers are looking for work right now and if the the studio's weren't losing money then they would be hiring them.

Again why should the audio and entertainment industry be different than any other industry. If you got caught stealing car parts you'd get thrown in jail for shop lifting.

Furthermore taping songs off the radio is also illegal, and the radio is not free you pay for the song by listening to advertisements or paying your subscription. See ASCAP.
