As anyone who grew up in the Looney Toons era can attest!
Course one just has to get the timing and distance right to be able to calming lift up a finger and say "Anvil".
The heck with the boat... bring those engines out here to california - we could use them for power!
Pretty bad when large companies have build their own power plants cause the city refuses to build more that they need.
two 1.5 gighz procs are aprox 50% faster then 2 1.ghz procs... wow imagine that...
*sigh*
I will wait till the bugs are worked out.
I have allready been bitten by bad dual cpu motherboards/chipset (via). Can't use the spiffy new geforce 2gts on this tyan tiger mb reliably.
maybe I should put it on ebay...
I am shure the Operatins system would be fine, however was the dreamcast really ment to be on 24x7? mine hasn't really been on that much and
allready the fan is making more noise then it should. Also I never give more then a year or two on cdroms working reliably. Should hear the poor thing grind away at what some of the games make it do.
NIC drivers are a good step... now produce a cd that will bootp/dhcp off the net so I can setup this thing as an remote xterm and run everything from the real server.
feh, with a single sgi computer they could have done that realtime. As it was it was just simple still scene #xxxxxxx pan right from camera 87 to camere 103
Hell prolly dosen't even need an sgi... maybe an old amiga:P
freaking simple stuff that wouldn't rate a b in a high school science project.
sheesh
I am disgusted at all the "oooo matrix film trick"
ahs people say when they see some simple high speed film slowdows.
On the other hand I did like the new bud "true" wassup commercial - the end was espcially stupid.

Would it be possible for a 3rd party company like paypal to hold funds in escrow till the product is actually shipped & received? (verified buy shipping company tracking number?)
Might be an added bit of complexity but I am shure it would go a long way towards boosting online sales to the timid.

Seem to remember it was a bit slower then 760 mph.
When something is "ejected" it should not start up a thrust and propel itself along.
I would like to see a client that securly updates itself. - Last time Seti stopped running because it wanted an upgrade I uninstalled it.
I would like to see more of a trusted central organization that will put out a client that can handle updates and giving you a choice on what project to compute on.
This would also make it simpler to track ladder rankings.
The whole point I got into the distrubuted bit was to see if I could crank out more keys then my buddies. I imagine this worked for alot of other techie-geeks.
At this point I am not going to bother donating cycles until somone comes out with a nice client, (with optional usefull looking screensaver), that is actually working for a good cause such as cancer cure. Ladder rankings would be an added bonus - attraction.
Also clients that PROPERLY support SMP, I seem to remember having to start two instances of a key cruncher inorder to get full effect out of a machine.
On another note I remember a tale about a contracter friend installing the key cruncher software on machines at places he was contracting at. Fergot about it for months after he left that contract. Checked his ranking after he had no machines personaly only to find those office machines were still working away.
I am also curious to see what Google could pump into a project with their spare cpu cycles from many thousands of machines(other then heat up the datacenters).

You prolly can't put the newer celrons into the older systems anyways.
I got burnt when I wanted to upgrade my abit bp6 dual system to faster cpus. I would imagine intel
will do the same thing here again.

Ya, Know.... I think if by some miricle of the dough god that the election come down to a poker game in New Mexico, that all this damn media-polictico-slimeo-circus might be worth it.
Would be quite amusing and as accurate as anythinge else I have seen.
Feed me a cookie to shut me up.
ya know Briggs n stratton motors were fine when I was a bit shorter and playing with the cheapo go-karts...
I look at this hovercraft thing and imeddatly the thought pops into mind... hmm wonder what happens when we put in a professional racing engine...
I do have that old motorcycle sitting out back... it had about 45 hp:P
might be able to lift me AND my backpack at that point!
Also would have to replacy that handle with something a bit more classy
oh and install a gps navigation system
and foglights:P
Cause Apache is too feeble to give such an error message and just leaves you hanging in limbo till the queue catches up to you, (if you or your browser hasn't timed out by then).
I find latly that the interface and programming on games to be quite bad.
Take BauldersGate2 good storyline, bad programming, managed to suffer though it and
finish the game though. Wizzards and warriors- interface so horrible it didn't pass 15 min with me. Take a look at your cpu usage in these games... it is at 100% usage 99% of the time! even when nothing is happening onscreen.(no matter how fast a cpu you had)
I hope for all the fans waiting for Neverwinters Nights out there, that a decent programming team is on the job. (at least they have showed off a few good things)
How many hours did we play moria, rogue and nethack? The joys of coming accross the dead body of somone else who played the game was interesting.. (till you found out what killed them:)
Enough ranting - back to work before somone notices.

Personally I would like to see great big zepplins
make a comeback. Wondering how well they would work out with things like titanium, kevlar, computer controlled everything.
Then again maybe I played Crimson Skies too much
recently. Massive airborne aircraft carriers are just such a neat idea.
After installing the beta and checking out the security, my response to the line about Redhat increasing security is that is is plain crap.
They should hire a couple differnt professional security firms that would be willing to have their name in the product saying it is secure.
Sensible things like no telnet and ftp and have secure shell installed. Files in the bin and etc
dir should be read only and not visible to other
then say the admin/wheel group.
xfont server dose not to be installed by default.
ipchains and tripwire, and an automatic update cheker should be installed by default.
desktop side:
xv and xanim are not installed and are needed by kde/gnome.
Until basic things like this are delt with, I cannot reccomend linux for use by other then geeks with spare time on their hands.
Same thing with FreeBSD btw.
I have noticed this problem as well. Usually only happens when something tries to use the 3d features of the card.
I am planning to get a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz to see how well that works out.
Hopefully no more instant blue screens.
Most drivers suck for SMP setups, hell even nvidia took till the current revsion to get theirs working in SMP.
What sucks even more is we will have these problems all over again if AMD ever gets multi proc systems out.
-Cookie freak
Intel may be sucking compared to AMD these days, but at least one can use TWO fast Intel cpus in slot one systems. I have yet to see any multi cpu AMD machines, therefore I have not bought an AMD cpu since the days of my 486 DX2-80 (made Descent 1 go faster:)
Now with the hudge wave of big bloated crappy software hitting us, we need big monster multi cpu systems to keep things running in a timly fashion.
As anyone who grew up in the Looney Toons era can attest! Course one just has to get the timing and distance right to be able to calming lift up a finger and say "Anvil".
The next satilites/probes whe send to mars should be built in a NEAR - beer can.
Better yet launch a hundred out of a long range -relay missle from orbit.
Leave a few cans full to confuse the martians long enough for a few pics to get sent back.
