Are you aware of how stupid your implied assumption is? Building codes and the accompanying bureaucratic enforcement infrastructure exist to transfer responsibility for risk and create a barrier to entry into the building market.

In a "libertarian paradise" a buyer would be responsible for enforcing their own standards, if you're too lazy to make sure that you're buying a quality product then you deserve whatever comes to you. Likewise, the builder would be responsible for delivering a product that complied with his employer's specifications, a builder that doesn't comply with a contract will have a hard time finding work.

A lack of building codes does not logically necessitate a drop in build quality.

Many people, including myself, downloaded the humble indie bundles from their favorite torrent site after paying for them. Why should I have to go to the trouble of individually downloading each game through an overloaded http server when I can just grab the torrent?

My point is that the piracy figures for the humble bundles are ridiculously misleading, even for piracy figures.

Human greed is a constant. Capitalism does not encourage greed, it holds greed accountable. A purely laissez-faire system has many problems, but one that it does not have is rampant corruption. You get corruption when you mix capitalism with government involvement in business, e.g. Italian fascism.

    You are exactly right.

The ability to access the internet is a human right in the US already, quite clearly there is no express language in the constitution granting the government the ability restrict the access of citizens to information provided by other citizens. In fact, the 1st amendment quite clearly withholds the right to restrict communication from the government.

The idea that because it is a human right it should be provided or guaranteed by the government is what is so fucked up about this.

I have a right to keep and bear arms, but the government doesn't need to buy me ammo or restrict the price so I can afford it.
I have a right to free speech, but the government doesn't need to make every one else shut up do I can be heard.

Rights aren't guaranteed by the government, they are reserved for the people unless explicitly given to the government.

Clinton, and FDR are two people who came in power, who are left leaning, and who did not destroy the economy.

FDR doubled the length of the great depression (http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/FDR-s-Policies-Prolonged-Depression-5409.aspx)
Clinton rode an economy based on Reagan's policies and managed to fuck it up enough that Bush II had no problem destroying it utterly.

No links for that because I'm lazy, but as a general rule presidents should be judged on the basis of the economy that they leave the country with, not the one they inherited from their predecessor.

I didn't want to post this, cause I'm sure it'll end up modded troll, but FDR worship is one of my hot buttons and I couldn't resist.

Also, I don't understand why the *disparity* in wealth is a problem at all. The rich and the poor are both getting richer, the rich just happen to be getting richer faster. No matter what your social status you're better off now than you were in the eighties.
