Oh, come on. There's not even a comparison. Full Throttle's intro is funny, witty, has great artwork and music and is perfectly executed. Not even one of those things can be said about that clip you linked to.
No country has achieved more than 20% grid penetration of wind/solar without major compromises.
What's "major compromises" supposed to mean?
Germany did generate 23% from alternative sources in 2012. And we did export more energy than in previous years even though eight of 17 nuclear sites were shut down in 2011.
However, there is no easy way to the OS to tell the app politely "hey, may you please give back as much memory as you can because something else needs it?".
Yes, there is. At least in iOS the system will send messages to the app to tell it to "please free up some memory". Of course, if it doesn't it may still be terminated.
Apple/Android tablet makers store their OS in a small, discrete storage device, with a second, larger storage space for user apps and content.
Err... no. iOS devices have just one storage for OS and user data, just like Surface (Pro). It's just that iOS only needs a fraction of the space that Windows needs.
If sites serve ad content inline with their main site content, ad blockers in their current form will stop working.
Not a problem. We'll simply build more sophisticated ad blockers. I already create complicated filter rules with custom CSS to change the appearance of some sites so that they better suit my taste.
Oh please. Woz didn't say that he believes that Microsoft is more innovative than Apple. He said he has seen Microsoft do some things that seem more innovative than what he has seen from Apple in the last few years. But he admits that he doesn't even know the people currently in charge at Apple all that well, so how is he supposed to know what Apple is developing right now? I mean, we all know how secretive Apple is. It's also no secret that Microsoft does do a lot of basic research; they frequently show promising tech demos. The original surface anyone? But it's Apple who creates actually successful products while Microsoft largely seems to be content making new versions of Windows and Office every now and then. It's just now with their latest tablet efforts that they are trying something new for a change. And that means new for Microsoft. There's not all that much new for the market in that product. Or to take it from another perspective: I believe Microsoft *does* have the resources to produce a really innovative and compelling product. It's just that... they don't.
Also, I have to comment on this sentence of the original article: "if Tim Cook should stumble, Apple might consider bringing [Woz] back as their CEO." That's just ridiculous. Look, I like Woz. He's obviously a really nice guy. And he's very smart; I mean, he built the original Apple-II almost on his own. But let's be honest: He's not a very good business man. He would make a *very* bad replacement for Tim Cook. And you know it.
Having said that, I don't feel it's that bad especially if you take advantage of the "massively online" part of WoW and group up. Dailies really do go fast in a group.
It's... OK.
But I think it would have been better if they had limited the daily quests to one or two factions a day. (Preferably two factions of your own choosing.) And I would prefer slightly harder fights and in exchange less of them. So, kill two mobs in longer fights instead of 10 in fights lasting only seconds.
Also, heroic instances should have heroic difficulty...
Account-wide pets and mounts was a good start, but now it's time to do the next logical thing and give us account-wide rep.
I'm almost through with my main with all the factions. Some of my friends already are. What am I supposed to do with my alts if they can just buy everything from the start? There wouldn't even be a point in doing instances since the faction rewards are better.
Also you don't have to get the factions up to exalted with your alts since all you get for that are mounts and mounts are already shared.
Umm... no. "Das Schiff" or "das Boot" are neuter. (OK, so there is "der Kahn" (the barge) which is masculine.) But many Ships have female names. Then they are referred to as female.
Windows needs to make "future" applications unable to get out of their install directory, and unable to write to a global registry.
Viruses can't do a whole lot if they can't get to system files, can't modify anything but themselves.
Windows would suddenly catch up with this whole Internet fad if they secured their OS from viruses finally.
Sure allow trusted legacy aps an option to be run, but aps for the future should be basically sandboxed.
I believe if Microsoft made their OS secure against viruses, they'd actually be a step ahead of Apple. The main old reason Apple doesn't have a lot of viruses is that it had a lower market share for a long time.
Now I'm confused.
You state that Microsoft would be ahead of Apple if they did what you listed above - do you not realize that this is exactly what Apple is doing right now?
But can information travel across space at an effective speed uninfluenced by the expansion of space without causing paradoxes? Is it possible that information could still reach us even if light could not?
No.
Nothing can travel faster than light and information has to be carried by *something*.
At the same time, Apple can't sell the iPad Mini for much cheaper than the iPad 2 ($399), because if they do, it will cost them a substantial number of sales on the better hardware. A lot of tablet users would gladly drop from 10 inches to 7 inches to save $150, if the user experience is otherwise the same. Apple doesn't want to cannibalize its own profit margins on their high-end tablets.
They will simply discontinue the iPad 2. The only reason for its existence is the lower price point. When there is a 7 inch iPad, people who want to spend less (than the full size iPad 3), can buy that instead.
Is the brain actually efficient? From what I can tell it's filled with spurious thoughts and impulses and only the presence of certain chemicals keeps that garbage from running slipshod over our foreground tasks.
I'd argue that's a necessary part for what we call intelligence. Without "spurious thoughts and impulses" you'd get no creativity. Without creativity you get no new solutions. Without a way to get to new solutions, you have no intelligence.
They do. Our brain cells are being rewired while we think and learn. That seems pretty much equivalent to a computer that uses self modifying code instead of dedicated memory.
I think we still don't know enough to understand how much is 'hard wired' and what is learned.
Better than Freespace 1? (and Freespace 2's wasn't bad either, if a bit talky)
"Send FIGHTERS!! I-I know they're following me, send everything you have NOW!!"

2) Provide for power in all parts of the world, from northern latitudes to the equator.
I think solar and wind are about the only energy sources that fulfill this particular requirement at all.
After all we need to transport oil, coal or uranium all over the world to have it available for energy generation.
So why list that requirement at all? If it is okay to depend on the import of oil, coal or uranium, why not import electricity directly.
They imported a shit-ton of oil. Real environmental.
Yeah, well, they were not exactly carrying out a long planned transition. It was more like an emergency, wasn't it?

Be ready to let go of your lvl 80 blinged out alt
But ... you can already do this? It's not like anyone is forcing you to keep playing with your maxed out toon.
I guess the main problem is, coming up with enough content to make it interesting to re-play everything again.
And, yes, you can play another class. But that's what almost all players do already anyway. There is only a limited number of different classes ...
I stopped playing but I agree that it seems like the whole atmosphere of the game has been shot to hell.
Well, I'm still playing and I think the atmosphere is the best since vanilla. (WotLK comes close though.)
Blizzard needs to make XP and rep for alts, once you've run through content once or twice, greatly accelerated.
That's what they plan for rep, I've heard.
Accelerating gaining XP? Even more? Then they could just have you skip leveling completely.

Everyone can plainly see that everyone else's religion is just a bunch of hooey.
Yup. And everyone is right.

How can Microsoft feel OK designing a GUI that does not allow you to CLOSE AN APPLICATION without a keyboard command?
I guess the OS is supposed to do the closing. Just like in iOS.
Does anyone use these tiny mouses?
I don't know A SINGLE person who actually uses these mini-mouses, and ultraportable tiny mouses, etc.
I'm using a Logitech Notebook mouse.
Picture: http://laptopmouses.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/83e45_usb_laptop_mouse_4129QW8T4NL.jpg
Especially since the price you pay (in comfort) by using a small mouse is really really high.
Huh? I'm using it because I find it a lot more comfortable than a bigger, heavier mouse.

automatic garbage collection
Thankfully, garbage collection is deprecated. We have Automatic Reference Counting (ARC) now.
Bah.
Yet another obvious Microsoft shill.
As to the story: There's a reason, Woz has been an engineer and not a designer at Apple.
