    All the ISK scams that went on in EVE Online are now here in "real" world Bitcoins. In fact, you can probably predict the next scandal from what dirty deeds were done before.

    But it it just me wondering if those involved think the punishment in the real world will be the same (none) ? I can imagine people being a little bit more upset after losing millions in real cash as opposed to losing some in-game fantasy currency.

    The minimalist verses skeuomorphism assertion has been made a few times already. Its quite easy to prove right or wrong.

    Simply design a calender or contact app that follows your new "modern" design methodology.

    If it beats the crap out of Apple's existing app because its so much better that people download it in droves to use it you have won, and you are rich(er).

    The law in the Netherlands is that you have to inform users that you are going to put a cookie on their computer.

    EXCEPT if the cookie is required for the core functionality of your website. So your shopping cart can put its 1st party cookie, and you are not in hot water.

    Most websites use Google Analytics. That is where you have to start putting up the "Smoking Cookies Kills" banners that will likely hurt your websites traffic significantly. The best thing is to avoid the banner altogether and stay still within the law.

    Sot its time to drop Google Analytics; its cool, its nice and now a drag on business.

    I have already found one alternative that looks half decent and doesn't require me to put up any cookies at all: PiWik (http://piwik.org/)

    A disaster.

    Somewhere a divine being is smiling wickedly and realizes all is well -- Javascript is pretty much on its way to become the most frequently used programming language on the planet, ever.

    It surely is the best available ; nearly every computer on the planet has a debugger for it available.

    According to this its a change of diet (as in the promoted healthy diet is anything but) in the 1970's and way too many sugars.

    At least in the good old bad days the library (usually) didn't stop working after the you compiled & distributed your program.

    Speeding ticket information is hard to get for the USA as a whole, but in 2011 the NYPD alone has issued:

    So the chances of an analyst checking this particular drivers information are.... close to zero probably. Another useless system.

    There will be a very big opportunity for something that ties all these platforms together in the near future.

    My iPhone has its own development platform
    My wife's Android phone the same
    My LG TV has its own App API
    My Philips Blue ray player has its own App API
    Samsung just announced its going to develop yet another OS for mobile phones...

    The market is fragmenting so fast its with all these "App" platforms, that there will be a great incentive for the first to create the "write once" , "run everywhere" tool chain. This will of course take a few years, but so many different platforms cannot be sustained.

    Oh, and here's a nice bit of dodginess:

    They are probably making lots of money from bored housewifes playing "casual" games -- not from the Real software that was once their core product.

    They sued Microsoft ages ago, settled in 2005 for 76mln and bought several online gaming sites from the cash.

    Visited a beautiful bookstore in the south of the Netherlands a few weeks back -- located in a redecorated church it is the best possible place to have a bookstore. It has a great feel to it.

    But its likely not going to last , last I heard the company has payment problems -- shame really.
