You are already a cyborg. Or maybe a psyborg. Your communication methods are augmented by programmed digital systems. You use it almost as a reflex. Your memory is enhanced by mail, calendars, various mediums of storage. Your finances are digital as well. It is barely possible to exist or compete in your world without digital aid. If you stop blogging, chatting, mailing, etc.... Some of your relations will be angered, others will consider you gone or too odd to maintain as a comrade. Though these things are not inside your skin, these adaptions are part of you now. Resistance is quite futile. Your young will not even see the possible point of resisting. Just as computers are driving cars, soon, if not already a program will be made that does a better job of being you in all electronic and therefore important ways. Your friends will also have programs better at being them then they are. When your friends intervene in the conversations that you are having with them you will find it annoying. 3D relations will become quite repetitive and annoying. Soon natural selection will take it's course. The only humans left will be those who enjoy actually doing things and living for the future.

This is part of the real brilliance and real motive of MicroSoft. At the top of their game, the bigwigs and the corporation sell stock. Then they publish a horrid OS and tell everyone at least 5 irrational things that will cause stock to fold. They still try to sell their brick grade junk at full pace during this, to still make what money they can. Then when the stock has hit bottom, the bigwigs and corporation buy it up and they publish a really good but slightly broken OS. People scream about the flaws, the stock stabilizes and then they fix those bugs. During each phase of the roller coaster, they do everything they can to manipulate the market. They make a fortune out of selling really junk OS's and pumping stock up and down. Much more than they would ever make if they were a reliable, and decent corporation.

  14. Re:good on UK Government Mandates the Teaching of Evolution As Scientific Fact · · Score: 2, Interesting
To come clean I personally believe in intelligent design. Part of that design is evolution. That is however my belief.

Science is the study of that which is reproducible, controllable, predictable or measurable. To study something you at least need be able to observe it. There are things that we cannot carry into the lab to study. There are things that occur that cannot be reproduced, controlled, predicted, or measured. Science cannot disprove a deity nor can it prove one without that deities cooperation. Dogma has always been the enemy of science. Good science is without dogma, so intelligent design has no business in a science lab. It is quite possible that good faith is also without dogma. :)

On the other side, to declare how your deity did something is blasphemy, unless the deity has clearly communicated with you on the subject. For a believer to attempt to drag their deity into the lab and make positive assertions on how the deity works is quite blasphemous.

Consider that all manner of evil is allowed. Sparrows fall, good men die in pain, alone and without respect Natural selection means that out of a million horrible endings, some bright benefit can emerge. I love the end results of evolution, I despise the process. Evolution does however give meaning to suffering. This is something that few dogmas can manage to do.

The OP said, "I can live without rayon, but, dang, I'm gonna miss polyvinyl chloride!" Rayon is made from wood. We make vinyl chloride from petrochemicals, but the original source was plant material and the majority of world production uses plant material. Acetate, is another one typically from plants. As is nitrocellulose. Casein, is a protein from milk. It is also the plastic that the buttons on your shirt are probably made of. So plastic without petroleum is not that hard to find.
