But I'm an evangelical, so I'm a "loon".

If we're wrong, what do we lose? We "tried" to live our lives according to principals like love your enemies, love and respect your spouses, have integrity, put others ahead of ourselves, live selfless lives, take care of the poor and widows. Follow Jesus' examples. Be good stewards of what God has given us (including the earth).

If you're wrong, you spend eternity in hell, where there's grinding/gnashing of teeth, unquenchable fire, eternal separation from God.

I'll take my chances with God. I like the odds better. Keep in mind that it's NEVER too late to accept Him.

We already believe that because the bible said it thousands of years ago. Please, continue to expose your complete lack of knowledge regarding Christianity (which in not "religion" to true Christians).

It's not the brain that causes a husband to make sacrifices for his wife and children; when I wrap my arms around my beautiful wife and tell her that I missed her, it wasn't my brain that caused that; when someone finds a wallet full of cash and returns it to its owner with the same amount of cash in it, it's not because his synapses fired in a certain order/pattern.

Who we are is not the handfull of elements that make up our physical bodies, or the chemical interactions that occur in the gray matter. We all have a soul, which was designed to live forever. Once the shell takes it's last breath, the soul will continue... Where it continues is a simple decision every one of us will make before we die.

Of course, if you don't believe this "nonsense", please live your life to the fullest while you're here, because this is all you have.

I do hope you don't base an entire disbelief of the bible on that one point. Every single prophecy in the book has come true so far. Scientists have used it to find geological locations due to its historical accuracy. Nothing scientific has ever proven anything in it wrong. It was written by 40 different authors over a span of thousands of years, yet Genesis to Revelation complement and relate perfectly. Have you read it? People (Lee Strobel for one) have set out to prove that it's just another book, and in the process have become Christians.

Contrary to popular belief, the bible and science complement each other. They are not polar opposites or in diametric opposition. Obviously they can't be since God himself created science, but I know most people in here don't share this viewpoint : ) And that's an example of the free will that He has granted you ; )

The bible tells us to "be good stewards of what God gives us". Look up the actual definition of a steward; nothing is ours - it all belongs to God. If God gave us this beautiful planet to live on and use, He expects/wants us to take care of it, be "good stewards" of it.

So, going forward, anyone that claims "Christians don't care about the planet", you're simply illinformed and don't know what the bible says.

Most people who will support gay marriage don't have a moral code that they live by, other than their own standards. This frees them to respond, with any hanus and cowardly retribution they deem acceptable, towards those who oppose their beliefs. Alternatively, bible believeing Christians, all of whom should object to gay marriage, are free from a life of sin (that doesn't mean we don't sin!), but we're slaves to Christ. We (should) work towards living a life acceptable to God, and therefore are obligated not to react in such base/loveless ways. "Vengence is not ours, it's the Lords". "Don't return evil with evil". "Love your enemy." These are in the bible. So, as difficult as this may be, pretend you're living according to these principals and there are those that will threaten your family, vandalize your property, poop on your lawn, etc. simply because they can see how you voted/petitioned.
