    Arrogance and backwardness, eh? Whats the advantage of switching to metric, where you have to convert everything to an arbitrary standard, as opposed to a measurement system based on characteristics of the person doing the measuring? I don't care that a HD is so many millions of Cesium wavelengths across, I care that its about 2.5 x the distance of 1 knuckle on my thumb. I can directly perceive and measure THAT distance, all the metric system does is swap one arbitrary measure for another.

    I've heard that reducing your background to a light grey, without sacrificing too much contrast delta with your text, is best. Or, use lightly colored background with a visually opposite color to achieve the same level of contrast. The key is that you're not staring at a lightbulb all day.

    ISPs have always been notorious for secretly compressing your images, caching your traffic, proxying stuff, slipping their own content into your web pages, etc. They look at the contents of your mail, since you can't spoof from anyone to anyone via their servers. How is this different, other than some joker gave it an ominous sounding name like 'Deep Packet Inspection' ?

    Go to Newegg and try to buy a flat panel that actually has 8 bit color. Even ones advertised as the full 16.7M colors don't - there are a number of websites out that either have or show you how to make a proper test pattern in PS - a non-dithered screen will produce smooth gradients, while a dithered screen will show 'steps' of color. Final test - watch a cutscene in a 3D game like NWN2 on a flat screen - dithering GALORE.
