  1. Am I missing something here? on NASA Gives Up On Pioneer 10 · · Score: 5, Insightful

Why don't all you people stop thanking a hunk of metal and start thanking the scientist and engineers that designed, built, and launched Pioneer 10. They are the real reasons this post even exist.

  2. Re:Virtual Environments - Network Monitors on A Sound Server For X · · Score: 2, Insightful

Sorry that is off-topic, but after working in a large NOC for several years I think I can speak from experience by saying that the last thing I want to hear when my network starts going haywire is a bunch of loud ass crows or some elephant blathering about who knows what.

Anyone who has ever dealt with a network down emergency will probably agree that in reality you would want your example sound samples reversed. You need the annoying stuff while everything is operating properly to help you stay awake, and the mellow "creek sounds" when your in all out panic mode ready to explode.

  3. Finally... on Feds Working to Stop Worms · · Score: 1

Our hard earned tax dollars at work on something somewhat beneficial.

The question is will the "Feds" be at least somewhat successful in their attempts to thwart future worms and other virii?

  4. Fully support his idea on Killing Others' Malicious Processes · · Score: 1

I fully agree with his idea of stopping an attacking process if the admin/owner of the machine is unwilling to do anything about it.

However, like anything else someone is going to push this to limit and abuse it.

That is odd. You mean these people actually are interested in music, the piano specifically, and not in shrinking heads. Who would have thunk it?

Who in their right mind needs a piano in the amazon? I'd be concerned with bug repellant than hearing Mozarts 5th.

I work for a cable modem ISP and would like to say that yes this is theft of service and it does come with a price is caught. First of course your service would be terminated, and second possible criminal charges would be applicable. However, if you are lucky enough to get it to work I would not consider it a permanent solution. Also, Cisco, 99.99% of Cable Modem Termination Systens or UBR(Universal Broadband Routers) deployed in Cable Head Ends are made my Cisco, has measures in place to prevent this type of occurance. Please read this link : http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/109/docsis_config 6.html#511694956 If your ISP has such measures in place then don't waste your time. thanks! itallushrt@hotmail.com
