I never said I agreed with them or that you were wrong. Was just wondering what you were talking about, because I don't know much about Greenpeace myself.

So, you are saying that their literature and findings aren't based on fact or scientific? They are just in it for the money?

As far as what they were saying over thirty years ago, I would personally give them the right to have been wrong or off by some margin of error as long as what they were saying was based on fact and not just purely political or monetarily motivated.

Don't try to pass off the fact that you have no proof to back up your accusations by saying that *I* have to be the one to find the proof.

To a degree, I completely agree with you. It seems like a waste of effort and resource to be fighting Microsoft. It would seem that many great things could be done with the time and money spent on something that appears to the 'outside world' as being obsessive about the rich kid on the block because of jealousy.

Ask yourself this, though. Does Microsoft think it's "all about total world domination for" Windows?

They are motivated by the same thing that motivates Greenpeace: money.

Can you qualify that statement? Do you have any links or documentation about Greenpeace that puts them on the same footing as conspiracy theorists or is that statement simply motivated by some political belief system?

Just curious as I would like to read any articles or documents about them stating something along those lines.

First, did I say it was a democracy? No I didn't at all. I was making an irony-laced comment about how Our Great Leader typically espouses the "Democracy For All" line when justifying his international policies. Yes, I am familiar with the "We're not a democracy, we're a republic" that conservatives love to pull out of their ditto-book to make themselves look superior intellectually.

Again, as mentioned in the CNet article, "Transmeta executives, though, indicated that the company would beat Banias in price." The Banias is Intel's soon-to-be-released next mobile chip. It should be at least fifty dollars less than Banias, but twenty dollars more than Celeron.

According to the CNet article (which actually had more information in it), the Astro will have lower power consumption than their current and competing chips. There is also mention that this is to compete directly with Intel's mobile chip. So I guess the answer is, that yes, they will be doing laptops. Of course, I thought that was what they were aiming for all along.

No where did I mention that anyone should do anything "the way I say". I don't think I said there was a "way".

The irony in my post was intentional in that I was attempting to point out the obvious fact that one candidate garnered more votes while the other candidate won by judicial decision. I also used my post to make a jaded attack on the so-called left that is afraid to speak up because they are afraid of being called anti-American again.

As far as US television being bad news coverage and nothing more than a means for painting a pretty picture of our lives so that the advertisers between stories can sell more products... no kidding! Try getting your news and information from other sources. The 'people' that own television news sources are in the entertainment business, not the information business.

I do have a question - are three dudes at the bar drinking ale between hash hits talking about how bad the world is any more free than entertainment-obsessed television fanboys and fangirls putting their time and effort into doing something about that which they care about ("important" or not)? How so?

I agree that it would be nice of them to list channels and times (harder) that they've bought for the spot.

You are dead wrong on the fact that the "mainstream media isn't exactly going to rush out headline stories about this unless people see it." CNN - which we can all agree here is about as mainstream as you can get, right - has already aired two 'lengthy' stories on the fan response to the show being cancelled. This was done when there were websites first popping up and the letter-writing campaigns were just getting started. If I recall correctly, there were stories in many other places as well. So, it stands to reason, that fans caring enough to produce (even supposedly amatuerish) commercials for *any* television series will be news. It really is groundbreaking in the history of television if you think about it.

Still, I'm skeptical the show will be granted an extended lifetime for other reasons....

First of all, I am not a thiest. Okay, as far as religion and those that 'but into it', it is a very simple matter. There seems to be an inherent need in human beings to 'believe' in something. There are also anicllary needs for belonging, community, 'solid' moral grounding, easy-to-grasp explanations of nature and the universe, having an enemy to hate, etc.

Religion, in all of it's various forms, fulfills these needs for a vast majority of people in the world.
