    I really wish it could be standardized with the decimal separator being either a comma or a period and the thousands separator being neither.

    I don't think you realize how similar what I showed you and what you want are. The difference is that the way you want it you need to name the parent at the definition of the child, whereas the way I showed it you need to name the child at the definition of the parent (and their parents). It's just inverted. Your way is better only if you want to build huge inheritance trees.

    I wonder what's the average frequency of those pop ups? For me it was maybe once a week back when I used Vista daily. If that's too often, then it's a simple case of PEBKAC.

    People can't connect the computers if they can't use them, and that can be achieved without killing the user. EMPs, extensive power loss, etc. But then this question would become the age-old, boring "What if civilization collapsed?"

    No. Porn would simply find new channels. Porn is always one of the first adopters of any technology that can be used to distribute it. It's not the type to cling to old distribution channels (unlike some industries), and neither are the consumers of porn.

    The problem is that the profitability of giving it for free is inversely proportional to the number of places that do so, which pretty much ensures there will always be one place left that gives it for free.

    Fines are a lousy motivator. Fines simply make sure corporations don't break the law for small sums of money. If the profit from foul play exceeds the punishment, then it's logical to play against the rules. Hell, if p > (1-c)f (where p = profit, c = chance of getting caught, and f = fine) then it still makes sense to do it if you're inclined to do a little gambling (and business people generally are).

    Could work. Having investors lose their investment (even for a limited period) would make them think twice about putting money in a corporation that may be doing shady business.
