I believe it's a military term. You don't clean up the parade grounds, you police them.

The problem here is that there is a large and active reloading market. Reloading renders this scheme useless. You will have multiple stamps and illegible stamps because of over stamping.

The whole idea is to make buying, owning and using a fire arm legally more expensive. When they find this doesn't work, the will pass more laws to fix it's deficiencies. So by-by reloading market. Owning brass will be illegal.

Since the vast majority of crime is committed with stolen firearms, the idiots will be unaffected.

"To a programmer, “hacker” simply means a great programmer. "

I've been doing this since 1986. I have never, ever heard anyone, in a large company (10,000+) or small (11) one, call a great programmer a hacker. I have heard them call "hackers" irresponsible, self important jerks who have little regard for the fact that a company will out live the brief time of their employment and that those who follow will have to deal with their non-standard, obtuse, "brilliant" way of doing things.

It's not about You, it's about providing the infrastructure for the company to do business in a reliable and predictable fashion. All of the safeguards and practices developed over the years to provide stable systems, delivering accurate results argue implicitly against the romanticized definition of a hacker and certainly against the reality of your average hacker.

If not for all the "dumb" people, most of the "smart" people would be standing in their own shit because they couldn't fix the plumbing and would be scratching for nuts and berries in the fields because they have no clue how to raise and harvest crops or raise and slaughter livestock, let alone hunt for food. They'd be walking because they have no ability to work on their vehicles, or run a refinery, or operate a drilling rig. And even if they did, they probably can't weld for shit...all jobs that are done by people that most here on Slashdot would not consider to be "smart".

So the next time you think to yourself how smart you are, consider all the essentials of civilization that rely on the "dumb" people to make happen and what situation you would be in if not for them.

Public Universities should not be accepting foreign students over U.S. students. They may say they want the "prestige" of having a diverse student body or say that they have some hot shot kid from one of the Stan countries, but no matter. They were created for and their job is to provide a higher education for the American public. Especially since they are largely financed by U.S. Taxpayers.

Private Universities? As long as they are let in under the rules and not given precedence over those who have been in line, fine, go ahead.

It seems that most of the institutions of higher learning have forgotten what their purpose is and instead strive to have the most bling... people or programs or things.
