Proof that the same Slashdot editors who champion free speech use everything they can to squash that same right when used against them.

I just watched it go from -1 Offtopic to +1 Insightful and back down to 0 in three page refreshes.
I've become more disillusioned with/. over the past few weeks. I read things like the parent and, quite frankly, I'm sick of this. Fuck Slashdot. I've been trying to reach the 50pt karma cap as a personal goal. Now I couldn't give a shit.
People are naturally drawn to photos, so gratuitous graphics can distract users from critical content.
So... what is basically being said here is that the average internet user isn't smart enough not to be distracted be images? Does he think that these people also pass a mirror in the hall and lose an hour just because they see an image reflected in there?
That's certainly a great way to view your end user... as a bunch of drooling morons easily distracted by shiny objects.
(and, no this is not really a response to rkent's post, just easier to do a reply to is to keep my post with the one that inspired it)
Well.. I guess you could ask Amidala if it's pu... oh... you're taking about his lightsaber not his "lightsaber (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)". Just ignore me then.
If you've been asleep for six months, Skylarov is a Russian citizen who is charged with violating the DMCA by writing a program _in Russia_and then demonstrating how easy it is to circumvent the Adobe "encryption" during a presentation in America.
I may hate the DMCA as much as the next guy, but try to summarize the whole story.
I don't mean to be cruel, but I really don't think Roboguard is going to be keeping me from going anywhere. Just one swift kick and I'd be adding a few extra Legos to my collection.
Just so they can fiddle with it and then bitch even more about how Microsoft is evil and should just die, little thinking that they just conributed money into the belly of the beast.
I heard on the news the other day that Paul McCartney took the pic for the cover of his newest album using a watch camera? Maybe he got a preview of this thing? Article here.
Oh BTW... the pic he took was of him standing at a urinal taking a leak. Pic in the article.
My point is, I can't feel *too much* sympathy for employees who let their company get too far in arrears.
In the majority of cases I've heard of, the employees who are getting the kick in the ass of no pay aren't the ones making the half-assed command decisions that put the company in the toliet in the first place.
And as for your own justification of the theivery
Uh... where in my previous post did I justify the theivery as the "right" thing to do? I don't think that it's morally or legally the right thing to do, but to paraphrase Chris Rock "I'm not saying they should of stole that stuff.... but I understand!"

You've got to try better than that. Such an obivous alias. ;)
PS: I like spankings.
PPS: Your "Holiday Gift" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) is in the mail!
I'd be more interested in this movie (as long as the key character dies at the end, of course).
Also, I "think" they are the "founders" of the "quotation mark" fan club.
Or you're in the mafia or IRA and want to make sure there isn't a bomb hooked into your ignition system. ;)

I'll take any of them.

better non-Mac PC integration
Uh, I thought all PCs were "non-Mac". That's why they're a "PC". Did I miss something?
physical experience of blasting down a single-track on a mountain bike beats any video game ever created.
Yep... I've never broke any bones when I'm playing a video game. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Next you know we'll be seeing :
Kellog's US Navy
MSArmy
Verizon Air Force
Kotex US Marines
(And, no, I have nothing against any armed forces. Kotex Marines just sounded funnier than any other.)

As a person terrified of flying, I getting somewhere faster means less time I have to spend moments away from pissing my pants over turbulance.
YES! Someone remembered me! The Slashdot conspiracy will not hold me down!

You sir, are a perverse genius. Where can I preorder this bad-boy?

I have a few co-workers who'd have a hard time getting past the bronze medal too, so this is pretty impressive to me.
More importantly... " Bootytown "?!?!?
So, uh, Beverly Crusher, Troi or Yar?
"If a credit history is required to view any material that's for adults(define?) then where does that leave people like me"
Down at the local adult bookstore. Viewing pr0n on the internet isn't a right, it's a privilege.
