So, you'd rather have written:
Qtopia:Embeddix:: Qt:GNU/Linux
Embedix is nothing else than a GNU/Linux (currently 2.4) port for ARM32 embedded devices.
I was under the impression that Linux was at 2.4, and that GNU/Linux designates the combination of GNU apps running on a
Linux kernel. Let's just say we're both wrong about the analogy here. I think what I should have written was Qtopia:Embedix:: KDE:GNU/Linux.
Now, Qtopia is based upon Qt/Embedded, so if Qt version is increased, so is Qtopia API, hence my question.
But QT/Embedded 1.7.0 is based on QT 2.3.7. QT/X11 is at version
3.3b1. It's changes to QT/Embedded that would affect
your Zaurus (and mine!), not QT.
It's not because 2 morons modded me as a flamer and a troll that I am.
QTopia is QT for embedded devices. It contains all of qt, but can be run in cut-down profiles. The main difference between QTopia and "regular" QT is that it bypasses X and writes directly to framebuffer devices.
Well then somebody clear this up for me, because I just don't understand. My impression was that the software stack was this:
Qtopia - analagous to a window manger, apps, user-level graphical stuff.
Qt/Embedded - approximately analagous to the X Window system with QT built in.
Embedix - the Linux kernel and (maybe?) non-gui user apps.
It just seems to me that if Qtopia was the widget set, Opie wouldn't exist, because (AFAICT) Opie is about open PIM apps and synchronization, not replacing QT widgets.
I'd love to be pointed in the correct direction, because I'd love to be able to get GNUton in a useable state.
KDE runs on how many platforms now? It's not up to the KDE organization to make binary packages for RedHat whatever... That's what a distro is for. RedHat says "this set of packages work well together" and they haven't said that about KDE 3.2 yet. If you're going to complain to anyone, complain to RedHat.
Qtopia:Zaurus:: KDE:GNU/Linux (for the case of Linux)
Qtopia is a set of applications built using (IIRC) the QT2 widget library. KDE 3.2 is a set of applications built using the QT3 widget library. This is where the GNU/Linux designation really comes into play:
I'm fairly certain that the eMachines W2040 I'm working on (I would link to the eMachines info page on it, but I'm not going to dig for it) had Google set as the default search engine.
I was hoping to read the story and say "Well, cool, they're pulling another OEOne or something.
But no. It looks like they're just adhering to web standards for their vertical app. Which I appreciate, don't get me wrong, but they might as well have been saying they were embracing Opera.
I used Winamp2 until 2.91 started randomly stopping in the middle of tracks. I swear it was the upgrade to Dell GX240s around here-- everybody started having problems with Winamp. Winamp3 didn't appeal to me very much, so I went through Sonique, Zinf, and a few others too horrible to remember, and finally decided that foobar2000 sucked the least. Its interface isn't pretty by any means, but I keep it minimized unless I'm switching tracks anyway. Beware: It doesn't do ID3v2 tags, only ID3v1. I rip all my stuff to Ogg Vorbis anyway, so that's not my problem:)
If it's anything like my T2040, that system restore CD is a copy of Symantec Ghost and a drive image. Wipe the drive, install the distribution of your choice (leaving a partition free for your Windows reinstall), then restore Windows to the free partition (not the whole disk! They're two seperate options!) afterward. Or do it first, after you set up the partitions.
This thing has a S3 ProSavageDDR in it, and for as much as I care about playing games (hint: I don't), it does an okay job at Quake 3.
Um, yes they are. Look at the bullet point above the one being discussed:
If high-performance Linux systems are in production, develop plans that would enable a quick changeover in case SCO wins a favorable judgment and requires the Linux kernel code to be substantially changed. Unix systems are the best alternatives.
This would be an appropriate place to mention Sparkle (the first MPEG player I ever used) for the Mac. It doesn't appear to be listed on the InfoMac HyperArchive anymore.
Thanks!
Aw, shucks

Yes please. Do you also have a pen I can borrow to fill out this patent form?
NASA then followed up by saying consumers would enjoy a more stable and robust space-exploration experience by upgrading to HubbleXP(tm)

Now there's a biometric for you...
"Log in using your password while goatse.cx'ing Mr. Bigglesworth..."
Or "Travolta"
Is he a mighty Go bot?
Is he a mighty vehicle?
Am I an idiot?
jigga who?
jigga please!
MEE 2. PLZ ADD ME 2 TEH LIST THX.
It's nice to see Pee Wee Herman with a job, again!

Yes, I read the link. Duh. I just like how SP7 is on a page labelled "List of Available Windows NT 4.0 Service Packs"

So the Bloods and Crips are really displaying their attitudes towards Big Bang theory?
and then there was Cool Spot, one big 7-up commercial that was one of the best 16-bit platformers ever.
Don't you mean foobar2000 using the AAC plugin?
Darnit, and I just got the lambs blood cleaned up from the Holy Spirit sweeps.
