What government agency will get the "Download Over" screen advertisement? "Winners don't use drugs" just doesn't seem to work in this case.

One person at a time license agreement? "The Gamers market is going to be a LOT harder for them to get into, too many of it's market will be thinking "I'm not having my console BSOD""
There are MANY people who play consoles exclusively and down own a computer or have a computer that can play the latest games. They would know very little about Microsoft and therefore not have the bias that techies and the slashdot crowd does. I can think of quite a few console gaming friends who would not know what BSOD stands for.
Even gamers that do use a computer are not necessarily going to be Microsoft haters.
In my opinion the XBox will do quite well out of the gates in North America. The place where they would have problems gaining acceptance would be Japan and the Asian Market in general, if they are even targeting it off the bat.

Could be wrong, but I believe the prefered term for Wolf3d, Doom, and the likes was/is 2.5 dimensional gameplay. There was a large illusion of 3 dimensional play due to ray-traced models that were rendered from 6(?) different perspectives which meant you could circle strafe around an enemy and your view of the model would change... Doom also had stuff like stairs and such to add more of a 3 dimensional feel than Wolf3d's flat levels had, but had the drawback of not being able to have one floor directly on top of another. That means no true spiral staircase amoung other things... Quake was on the first if not the first truely 3d FPS game due to its use almost exclusively of polygons for models, maps, and everything else but the weapon and item effects... Feel free to correct me on some of this, but if memory serves this should all be close to the truth... -- Judas96 "...don't take a nerf bat to a knife fight." - Joe Rogan, said on News Radio
I'd like to say that many of us Canadian's do actually have a sense of humour. I personally don't mind putting up with the obvious ignorance because I find it funny. After all, Canadian television programing puts it's own humourous spin on it ( http://www.salter.com/22minutes/22hour.htm (for instance)), showing us how ignorant Americans can be. Sometimes you just have to take the bad to also get the good:).

I don't think this is much of a problem. It isn't like Roxio is the ONLY company to make cd writing software, and even it it was do you seriously think people wouldn't find a way to get around any protection put in place?
And why is it so scary? Not to troll, but it just means that you would now be paying for songs that you most likely should have been paying for in the first place...
If people don't like whatever scheme for payment Roxio/EMI end up putting in place, they will find a way to get around it by cracking the program or moving on to a new one. -- Judas96 "...don't take a nerf bat to a knife fight." - Joe Rogan, said on News Radio
Wow. Just like in 1984 by George Orwell.
Probably obvious to any who read this post, but in the novel 1984 there were 3 big powers (Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia) in control of everything. They seemed to be happy to pretend to be at war over petty squabbles while quietly maintaining the status quo. -- Judas96 "...don't take a nerf bat to a knife fight." - Joe Rogan, said on News Radio

I know most of us adults despise Pokemon and his ilk, but I bet you most people felt the same way about the fads we went through as kids as well. I doubt there were many adults in the 80s that cared for our fascination with good and evil giant robots that changed into varios forms of transportation...
Also, those kids are slowly but surely growing up over time (most of them are, anyhow). Nintendo always seemed to have loyal fans with the NES and then SNES. I remember loving them but hating the Sega Genesis for no good reason at all. All those 10 and 12 year old Pokemon lovers could be easily transformed into 16 and 18 year old Nintendo Zealots if the Gamecube does come out with a few great games aimed at a higher age level, look out.
Everybody critisizes Nintendo for not having adult games, and if you really want to look at it that way they never really did. At least not in comparison to the Resident Evils and Metal Gear Solids of today. But I will be damn happy if they can make something that sucks me in as much as Super Metroid did. Not everything that has blood and gore is all that mature anyways, and who says I play video games for all the realism (well, fake realism) anyhow?
I think it only reduces crime and insanity in Liberals. Staunch converatives, republicans, and religiously zealous types seem to end up frothing at the mouth and throwing the bible into the ring. I think should that should be criminal and is insane. If you don't like it, just don't look at it.
