The summary left out a big piece of information, in my opinion. They were just retail employees, not developers. I was puzzled why some developers at Apple *didn't* have Leopard at first.
SubEthaEdit is invaluable for collaboration. I can't say how many times it has come in handy when I've wanted to help someone with code over the Internet or plan out code with someone. Not to mention taking notes with 5 other people in 'ole Computer Science lectures...
It absolutely is optimized in software. That's ridiculous. My own little informal tests have put it high and above Newton and ODE for a lot of cases, and who knows about Havok. (too damn expensive to try)
I think most people don't realize it's a great physics engine by itself that has the added bonus of supporting dedicated hardware. Plus, a lot of the larger developers presumably have source access, so if it doesn't look optimized or if there are big/* LOL THIS'll MAKE EM BUY A CARD */ comments... well... Unreal 3 and everyone else wouldn't be using it would it then?
If people stop buying PC Mag, stop linking to his articles, and stop caring, Dvorak will go away. Then after a few deep breaths you will feel much better. Ahhh
I think Pandora has music Internet radio right. Traditional Internet radio broadcasts have nothing on it when it comes to music. With Pandora I can build my own station, skip songs I don't like... it goes on.
That leaves talk radio. I think podcasts have got this right. The only thing a traditional Internet radio broadcast has up over it is that you can do it more or less live and have people call/IM in.
I think traditional Internet radio has failed because people tried to transfer the radio format to a new medium not very suited for it. Now we're seeing new formats taking advantage of the new medium, and they are very successful.
You've got two basic choices for "health powerup" that have been ingrained into gamers. Heart shapes and the little red plus sign. The former doesn't mesh well with some game styles. So what is a game designer to do? Surely they could think up an original symbol, but then there'd be a large portion of gamers would just respond "WTF is that?"
They do realize there isn't sound in space, right?
Well, you can click the fullscreen button, wait for your movie to reload, then watch it sorta fullscreen, transcoded, and really really fuzzy.
It's a joke. Laugh.
Always fun to search for: http://www.google.com/codesearch?hl=en&lr=&q=%22i+ am+the+walrus%22&btnG=Search Someone dial the RIAA hotline!
Star Trek X, Nemisis, buried that principle, poured 10 gallons on it, then lit the grave on fire.
As an iBook user, I hereby ban my use of Virgin Atlantic!
It's also remastered from the original 35 mm prints. It looks a heck of a lot sharper... you know you want to see Shatner sharper...
Pretty sure Apple has "iTunes Exclusive" tracks all the time. For promotion of new singles, and junk.
1. Dungeons and Dragons
2. Space Rogue
3. Escape Velocity
4. Tempora Heroica
5. Counter-Strike
OS X writes out a proper log file you can look at later... what good is showing it when it's crashed?
Thank you for your courage.
I was referring to Apple's developers, as in employees working in Cupertino.

Interesting point... So minors can't technically buy any software with a license agreement on it?

Chapter 1 is a good read, titled "Darl gets trippled by Slashdot"
"Diablo Diablo Diablo", sung to the song of "BadgerBadgerBadger"

South Park uses Maya, described as "building a sandcastle with a bulldozer." Just thought I'd throw that out there.

we'll have a funky new machine.
An engine like this? http://www.unity3d.com

fyi, I don't play games. I develop them for a living. ;-)
Well, on a PC, you do get to use a mouse. I'd argue that they work a hell of a lot better.
