Except when you need to communicate with someone who doesn't use "hangouts".
There are many mechanisms, other than Hangouts, to exchange messages. All those that I need to communicate with use one of them.
Or, are you one of those people who refuses to answer their phone?
I only answer the phone when I recognize the number of the incoming call. The rest, leave a message. I never return a call to a number I can't identify, unless the caller leaves a message. I refuse to give my time to unknown individuals at their convenience.
I have been able to do that with Android phone, via Hangouts, for years. I very seldom use the phone and messaging capabilities of my cell phone provider (T-Mobile) relying instead on the data feed. In fact, if I could have a plan with data alone, I would - keeping the phone/messaging stuff is so obsolete.
what so every computer had to reboot every hour to cope with the SHIT code Nvidia provide for drivers? no thanks.
I guess we all have had different experiences - I have yet to have any issues with NVidia cards and drivers, and I have yet to be able to get any AMD cards to work with AMD drivers.
Brexiteers claim that things are going to be wonderful outside that EU, for the UK will negotiate terrific trade deals with everybody. Well, this should be good practice: strike a deal with China so that they will carry on keeping the trash generated by the UK. It will be a very easy deal, right?
I was not expecting anything remotely close in quality to "Alien" or "Aliens", but I was also not expecting such a ridiculously pathetic movie. What a turd it is.
It is not that some do not believe that Obama was born in the USA. Rather, for purely existential reasons, they decided that a man like Obama couldn't possibly be the president of the USA. Not without forcing them to change their perception of life on this planet in ways that they could not countenance. Therefore, Obama had to be a foreigner. Had to. No amount of evidence, argumentation or proof will convince them otherwise. Ever.
Bypassing all that is trivial with DNS tunneling apps, of which there are many for Android. You will not be able to stream movies, but you will sure be able to read email, news, and do basic netsurfing. At no cost.
Disney will probably try to go back to their artificial scarcity shenanigans that worked so well for them till then 90s. Not any more. If they try that again, it will probably backfire on them spectacularly.
That one of the individuals behind the abomination that is Gnome 3.* is wondering about it. This aside, 2018 is not going to be the year in the desktop for Linux. It will never be, all the more so since the powers-that-be in the community keep pushing the Gnome and (to a lesser extent) KDE monstrosities. But, that is a good thing, at list for many of us. We can still use alternative desktop systems that do everything that we want or need. And, by maintaining the status quo, the bad guys will carry on focusing on the Windows desktop. For me, and many like me, this is an ideal state of affairs. In this light, let me be the first to encourage the Gnome and KDE people to keep up the good work, and to give my thanks to MS.
I don't think it was a combination of errors and misfeasance. It was, almost exclusively, a few thousands of people that got unstoppably greedy. The sooner those repugnant morons are kept out of the loop, the better.
Atlanta-Hatfield is not just a US airport. If things go bad there, that's likely to have a knock-on effect on the whole of the US, and on many intercontinental flights.
Either this guy is the epitome of stupidity and obduracy, or else he's a ruthless scammer attempting to capitalize on a common fad. We'll probably find out soon.
Bearing in mind the despicable behavior of MS throughout its history, can you blame people for airing negative views about this company whenever it is mentioned? MS is harvesting what it has sowed, and will carry on doing so for a long time.
I wish NASA changed their approach to these things. This is a nice finding all right, but it hardly warrants a TV release, much less the mystery associated with "next Thursday we are going to make an announcement". A simple press release, without any drama, would have been more than enough. By proceeding the way the are, NASA are stirring up false expectations in the public. When the announcement is made, the public may be forgiven for thinking "And this is the big announcement?".
NASA has been crying wolf for years. They will be able to cry wolf not so many more times, before the general public becomes apathetic and indifferent to NASA's announcements. And, when that happens, NASA's annual budget will go down.
Please, NASA, stop it.
I don't agree. Systemd is the most visible part of a clear trend within Red Hat, consisting in an attempt to make their particular version of Linux THE canonical Linux, to the point that, if you are not using Red Hat, or some derived distribution, things will not work. In essence, Red Hat is attempting to out-MS MS by polluting and warping Linux needlessly but surely. The latest: they have come up with the 'timedatectl' command, which does exactly the same as 'date'. The latter is to be deprecated. Red Hat, the MS wannabee. They will not pull it off, but they are inflicting a lot of damage on Linux in the process.
The experience of flying in commercial flights has never been overly pleasant. However, starting about twenty years ago it started to deteriorate even further, and today it has become a shameless race to the bottom. Airlines seem to be competing on the basis of who can inflict more nonsense and misery on passengers, while still getting away with making money. Hopefully, at some point the tide will turn - but that is unlikely to happen any time soon.
What we want is access to all the material, all the time, everywhere, in simple, easy to do ways. The current industry refuses to understand that. It keeps creating artificial scarcity, by pulling content out all the time. The keep constraining where you can play the content. They make it more burdensome than it would to play that content. Finally, they charge too much for said content. Piracy solves all those problems. The industry could solve all those problems as well, and charge some money for it. They do not want to do so. Piracy will continue.

Indeed. And a big middle finger to MS - if anybody deserves it, they deserve it more.
Embracing, tainting, extinguishing.

We are talking a dishonest character, a scammer, a crook - that happens to be a woman.

I'll say! Who would have thought that MS would do something stupid.
I don't think it was a combination of errors and misfeasance. It was, almost exclusively, a few thousands of people that got unstoppably greedy. The sooner those repugnant morons are kept out of the loop, the better.
The UK has a reputation for keeping tabs and spying on its citizens.

Does one really need a $3000 bike for doing some exercise and getting some fresh air? A bike one tenth of that will not do? Really?

He's the best president since Regan, IMHO.
Donald Regan was chief of staff, never president.

This from a guy with a deep, deep interest for that assertion to be true.
