    In some cases (for example 14.01 - Microeconomics)
    the lecturer uses copyrighted material in the
    lecture notes, and therefore must restrict access
    to these notes. In order to make the notes
    available on OCW the notes will have to be
    restructured.

    evolution because it makes sense and fits the
    evidence."

    Actually much of Darwin's work is based upon his
    own and other's research of South Pacific bird
    species.

    Evolutionary force? Nope. It's simply life, death,
    and sex. As opposed to say inventing some giant
    invisible hand in the sky that invented everything
    and that got pissed off because, while omniscient and omnipotent, things aren't going his way.

    Similar if not the exact same thing exists
    for linux. Awhile back I had kernel panics
    write to floppy (IIRC because the problem I
    was debugging was with a bad disk, and swap
    was on said disk).

    Off hand I can't say, it wasn't covered in my
    readings. However I do know signficant quantities
    of livestock are raised in the area. A quick
    search on google for San Joaquin air quality
    turns up all sorts of information, much of it
    making specific reference to problems with
    ground level ozone.

    Actually it is. The San Joaquin Valley
    (a primary agricultural area in CA, and
    the US) just passed LA for worst air quality.
    Increasing ground level ozone would not
    improve things.

    Geez, you'd think nobody'd ever taken a
    science class. When you freeze water the
    impurities are forced out of the crystal
    structure. You can make freshwater from
    seawater by "creating snow" with it.

    Well in fact, now some of them are. But not all.

    There's a reason San Jose has the highest
    concentration of Superfund sites (oh wait, Bush
    cancelled that) in the country.

    FM is for music.

    AM is for talk and sports.
    You don't need stereo to listen to
    that shit. (Of course some would
    argue that much of the stuff passing
    for music isn't deserving of the
    bandwidth wasted on FM stereo either)

    it's just less egregious.

    Ignoring the fact that diesel is a fossil fuel, and therefore nasty outright. Diesel (including biodisel) is not the answer. While they do produce 6% less CO2 and can produce 80% less NOX, they produce 25 to 400x more soot (See recent issue of New Scientist). Soot also causes global warming (although it has a shorter lifespan than CO2). It also has severe direct impacts upon human health.
