Nah, they would probably say that the Y chromosome would just be good enough so that more females could be made. All the _others_ with degraded chromosomes would just not reproduce.
Well partially. The conservatives were found in "Contempt of Parliament" when they refused to release documents related to how much various items in the budget would cost. They introduced a bill, the opposition wanted to know how much it would cost, but *refused* to supply the documents and were found guilty (by the speaker of the house?) of doing this. If I recall correctly, it had to do with the Omnibus crime bill, (i.e. making more jails, spending more money, making more criminals, spending more money) and the proposed cost of the F-35 fighter jets. Their figure of approx 19 Billion dollars was based on the previous liberal government's estimate (Go back in time and figure out when they were last in power 2001?) and the engines on the jets were not even considered. It was estimated by an unbiased source that this would cost over 30 Billion dollars. So asking parliaments support for a bill even though you don't have the cost is pretty outrageous. Either that or they knew the cost but were hiding it, even worse. The opposition then decided that this was outrageous and all the opposition parties who had a majority kicked them out, which had a disasterous consequence that the Conservatives got a majority because "They were business friendly". Today they are doing the same thing, because they have a representative majority, they shut down debates, and are basically getting everything passed that they didn't in the last round. They think that they are above the parliamentary conventions of Canada.
I was looking for a particularly good piece on the ACTA entitled "How the ACTA kills your job" (in quotes search). The page(s) does not exist according to google or the site(s) is down. Also the media seems to think that this is a copyright/Internet related issues only (with Anonymous playing a big role???). Is there a good piece that describes how it would affect other aspects of our life in the media such as generic drugs, seeds, patents and even surveillance by ISPs and file sharing?
The strategy used to keep money flowing into the US and now apparently is part of the US DoD now is:
1) Create a standard(s) that is proprietary and somehow ensure that the standard is scarce (that is where the money comes from) so that no one else knows how to create interoperable parts.
2) Create a patent system so that someone else with a different standard, but with the same functionality will not be able to create the same functionality in their products.
How this affects me:
Suppose I wanted to create a new product so that it achieves a certain functionality. As a startup, I do not have the money to defend against patent lawsuits, but I do have an idea that is worth developing. I will be hindered by this new regime. The whole point is to make sure those with money (currently a lot of US corporations) to keep getting more money. This to is meant to hinder foreign enterprises using the global reach of US law.
Solutions: Use some form of open hardware where the scarcity is not in the idea or knowledge of how to build the product. This rewards efficient manufacturing and promotes the free flowing of information and allows for a more efficient economy because the cost of production has gone down.
I would love one day to see the US turn into the next China, by ignoring the rules itself created, and becoming a power house where innovation is rewarded. Furthermore, I would welcome any country to have the confidence that they can compete with the US, and ignore some of this BS that the US is pulling, because the US isn't going to able to to this much longer.
All the even more sad is that it was done to ensure "public confidence" in the justice system From the judgement "However, enforcement of cross border criminal justice is intended, in part at least, to ensure (alleged) victims of crime and the wider public confidence in criminal justice is no thwarted by national borders. " When the public doesn't even give a shit about those poor music executives and shareholders, rather to impress upon the public that they too could be liable when providing hyperlinks to other sites. i.e. to impress fear on the population.
...so Bing surpasses itself as Yahoo search. In other news Google has surpassed AltaVista. And to rock the boat: Bing still is inferior to Google for search. Half of the stuff the video search indexes are YouTube videos as well for which I could go straight to YouTube and search from there.
But according to this map of pakistan and surrounding area, it looks as though the only way for the oil to get from China without going through the Strait of Hormuz would be to come directly from Iran. I guess that is why they are building a port. It also raises the scary question that if Iran "expanded" its influence then China would still get its oil but the US would not. I am not sure if it is possible for land shipments of oil on the border between Iraq and Iran given the mountainous terrain.
I just transferred my domain name over to namecheap.com. Pretty good from what I can tell. Automatically populates MX records with my Google Apps account and transferred my domain for 1 year. In 3-8 days I will no longer be a GoDaddy Customer. Maybe somewhere on this board is a good place to let GoDaddy know that the legal interference with the Internent will not be accepted. Who else transferred their domain name(s)?.
Also, before you consider supporting Time. Keep in mind that its parent company, Time Warner, helped put out a full page ad in support of SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act. We should be letting them know that this is unacceptable. So get with the times, Time Warner, or at least help them to find another business model so the incentive is not to support such laws. "Time Interactive News"???
Not worth a +5 Insightful. What is wrong with integrating your products. You can offer the customer more features. Microsoft does it all the time and in a monopolistic fashion and in an abusive fashion. Is google supposed to try and keep all of their products separate. I use hotmail and gmail but I use hotmail as my "throwaway" account. Gmail is much better. Google.com is much better, Android is much better, where has Microsoft listened to the average person and not tried to suck up to media giants with DRM: where is Microsoft's answer to youtube? Or anyone else for that matter. The only competition Google has is Apple, and I purchase Apple products because they make a good product, not because necessarily agree with their philosophy, but I don't yet think Google is so dominate i.e. majority in the desktop/corporate operating system market that we have to accuse them of controlling everything. BTW Android is a partnership of companies, but you seem interested in how things "look".
Existential quantification vs Universal Quantification. Ballmer is using false logic. Sure some scientists use android, and for customization, there may not be any other choice. Just like Linux on supercomputers(which I think Ballmer is really talking about). But just because some people use it for complex tasks, doesn't mean all people who use it are computing scientists. You do not need to be a computing scientists just to use it. Proof. I know somebody who is an android user who is not a computing scientist. Windows may be easier to use on desktops/laptops, but that doesn't prevent someone making Linux just as easy to use. However, the lack of source code to Windows( on both phone and desktops+) prevents it from making a phone which a random scientist could use for a specific application.
My other post got deleted...but I will continue in my same "negative" stance. This is a technology that treats humans as targets, and some regimes around the world, every citizen is a potential target. Target for what? Here in Canada or the US it might be a day in prison but in other countries where US military technology has been exported it will be used for nefarious purposes. In other countries, and there are lots of them, the technology will be used for other purposes. And I am including cell-phone monitoring and electronic eavesdropping as "military technology". We only have to look to Tunisia or Egypt where the governments spied using technology which the US invented. This is why I have a huge problem with massive spending on military technology which in order to be profitable, must be profitable, as opposed to massive government spending on green technology or other technology that can be exported as well, with a far better human outcome.
There have been a lot of "oh well this is normal go back to your caves" type posting both in this article and the Yahoo blocking mail article. The point is is that this type of lockout doesn't have to happen nor does Yahoo have to block emails. I doubt that Yahoo found offensive words in the emails but found offensive sites that were offensive to a small mind of CEO's, corporate shills, etc. Same here. Linux is a threat to some software companies business model and they will try to block it but to the majority of people, the effects will come later, when the goal of locking in our cash flow. I don't trust Apple, nor do I trust Microsoft nor do I trust Exxon not to take advantage of their position. Best to stop it now.
I think the MS already has a huge influence on the manufacturer. Remember when ACER stopped selling Linux Netbooks, even though XP was clearly inferior? Why should the rest of the world have to suffer when virus/rootkit problems are tied mainly to Microsoft? In other words, if I want to keep my system secure using Linux/BSD why should I as a new user have to jump through hoops while the current setup (pun) works?
When I first read this summary I thought that The Guardian had access to all the information, but is trying to blame wikileaks for publishing the information. Good thing some smart people saw through this but the headline will probably get noticed the most that wikileaks published "251,000 secret US diplomatic cables". Sometimes when something doesn't make sense upon parsing, it is a good idea to look beyond the headline to see what is really being said. i.e. "The Dow Jones was up 50 points today" making it seam like the US economy is really recovering when in fact it was down more on previous days. or "The Canadian economy created 100,000 more jobs" when in fact the jobs were in the service sector or part time or even in the State's case when jobs created are not reported with jobs lost. BTW Where in the heck is all the news stories regarding homelessness of families when the insurance companies foreclosed on homes? Oh yeah, that falls in with the coverage of the US politics "Do you like thin or thick crust pizza?"
Personally, I think people are getting jealous. It is time to start innovating and producing good products and supply an alternative. I am sure that on Microsoft's phones, Google search isn't present. If Google has the lead it is because they are better. And even if they are a monopoly, so what, that is not illegal. People sometimes blame "better" on "forcing products on people". Sure maybe Google should try and collaborate with Microsoft, but that isn't in the cards. There is a reason why some vendors would rather ship Android while paying $5 for phone to Microsoft rather that ship a Microsoft product. If Google is the better one, lets realize that Google search got that way because of innovation, not buying people and products. And after all, it is there own phone and software. I think Google would be in the clear if they provided a way to root the phone to install your own software. I wonder how many people would be doing that?
Plus punitive damages should they ever try to harm or otherwise traumatize another person who watches, or will watch another one those movies ("The Crap"). With poetic justice, no one group will be allowed to Copy the Copyright Group brining a halt to all such waste of the courts time in addition to the time spent watching the movie. Sounds fair to me.
Nah, they would probably say that the Y chromosome would just be good enough so that more females could be made. All the _others_ with degraded chromosomes would just not reproduce.
How about this. We are allowed to snoop on what police are doing.

Won't anybody think of the cows. This could be a new reality-show spinoff. To catch a cow or something.

Problem: it is now illegal to wear a mask in public in some durisdictions. So it is either pay now, or pay later.

They have finally found the relics of our dinosaur government. Well, at least they mean something to paleantologists.
I am sure someone on slashdot had an experience where they had sex with no one or phoned niteflirt Patent #91234876. Virtual Sex!
