I swapped income with free tuition and a stiped.. overall, the compensation was pretty low, when compared to a professional job. Hey.. it's a state school, they don't have a lot of money to give!
If you get to give a quote, quote what you're currently making and see if they bite.. if anything, shoot high, because if you miss, hopefully it'll still be higher than if you shot low..
I agree with that.. the way that my isp deals with it is that they have a couple of different options when you get a package, basically the regular and "enthusiast" package. People who get the enthusiast package don't have ports blocked for them, whereas the normal subscribers do have ports like their ftp server port and mail port, etc, blocked.
my parents are doctors, and we actively block caller-id due to the reason that, if a person gets the home phone number of a doctor, that doctor will never get any rest again. Some people just don't have common courtesy to respect the privacy of others. Being on call, means that he works away from the office.. and comes back in if there's an emergency.. but a diaper rash on a newborn doesn't consist of an emergency, no matter how hysterical the parents are.
probably because you can be hired for half of what an experienced programmer demands for their experience.. not to mention, that you can be guided and specialized into what they want.. not re-trained and brainwashed from your already established ways..
I work for company that writes Utility Billing Software.. from the way that we see it... there's fixed and variable pricing.. make a cost benefit analysis and figure out where the break should be for people to have a fixed fee versus variable.. in events such as the slammer virus.. treat it like a water main break and eat the cost.. it's like telling someone it's there fault they drive a car, that it got broken in to.. if the bandwidth is directly attributed to a situation that is out of the users control, then don't charge them for it.. but if they don't patch up once a patch becomes available (this should also mean that you, the ISP, has the patches readily available so there is no excuse by the user for not doing it), then those later fees should be attributed to the customer..
now the street racers have yet more ways to mod their vehicles... I wonder how the gov't will regulate them to keep them away from the lights reserved for service vehicles...
is another persons treasure.. I'd say just save it all and allow others to sift through and decide what is worthwhile and what is worthless.. just like the library..
just like a famous eject switch.. there better always be an eject button.. especially if I can trigger it remotely.. and it's attached to the other person's chair.. muahaha *evil laugh*
on this planet.. for how long? and there hasn't been a doomsday asteroid yet.. why is it that suddenly it's a high priority? It's just more political propaganda...
would we need to get recertified every time Moore's Law revolves? or when M$ decides to release a new OS version.. what about the whole Unix field which takes a bit more skill due to the lack of "official" support..
when you start a browser.. it begins on your "home page" from there you may jump from site to site.. not necessarily deeper into a website, but more often than not, it is. So to me, the "Back" button has to do more with "Back Tracking" as in taking a hike, and back tracking towards "home".
doesn't anyone remember the old Excel easter egg with the flight simulator in it?

What... do you think the insight of the views into this topic are a little skewed?
Because most times product doesn't match specs.. then you can fall into liability issues.

wouldn't it be faster to go to a civics office, acquire blueprints and algorithmically build the wire structures, and then remap the pictures?

he could hit anything, say "heeeey...." and it would magically work again
check IBM's website, dimwad.. AS400's are mainframes
that's a bullshit move to mark mine as a troll just because someone put in the magic "troll" word..
seriously.. you're probably 50+ years old and worried about your AS400's going out.. read a book, adopt some new technology and don't be lazy
pfft.. move on, nothing to see here.. can't stop progress... horse to car, mainframe to newer technology...
and the world may be flat OR round?

I guess if you join the military and do hacking for the Gov... might be some sort of accurate portrayal

HACK THE G1B50N?
dual core CPU's? I wonder how they're going to target those.. looks like we might have to migrate dual cpu setups to a dual core one..
modify and attach a wireless bridge.. that's what I did with mine and it suits me great
