I wouldn't say countless. There have probably only been less than 10 blackhole type events with BGP/routing that affected a significant amount of Internet traffic in the past 15 years. The big one being back in 1997. There is a website somewhere that keeps track of them and explains what happened.
Actually what I can't believe is that we're talking about how stupid marketing people are. Yes, they are stupid and we're tired of them. Let's move on.
If you remember video card boxes in the 90s, they always seemed to be starving for metaphors for faster speed. First a hot rod, then a plane, then a space ship. They finally just ended up putting some Aboriginy guy on the cover. I didn't know they ran that fast.
I think it was more funny to pick up C64 games and see the words "actual C64 screenshot" during the late 80s when some game companies would put the Amiga screenshots on C64 boxes. I still see people referencing this phenomenon as a joke these days.
Never forget. Microsoft has never helped open source.
Um, maybe you didn't think of it this way, but Microsoft is the reason why the open source community is so strongly driven. Open Source users don't have the reputation of hating Microsoft for nothing. So in a large way, Microsoft helped Open Source in a huge way. Its all part of the balance.
Um, ones that aren't made with bad capacitors. In case you didn't know, this normally shouldn't be happening. That you think it is normal indicates how bad the problem has become. Read the history of the problem on the link provided.
Now, I find eVGA a pain in the ass to deal with, but at least they are still around.
Only as long as their capacitors last. I've had around 4 eVGA cards in different computers and all of them eventually went dead with blown out capacitors.
Given how many programs leak memory. Its amazing that companies get away with oversubscribing memory without running into big issues. And desktop programs are usually the worst of the bunch.
Hawaii, yeah that's a pretty typical place, I'm sure it being studied in Hawaii won't skew the results.
It probably won't because the results sound right, but still, in the interest of science, I would have been more satisfied if they would have done the study in more than one area of the country/world.
I was also annoyed by my 1st grade teacher not teaching us the Cyrillic and Japanese alphabet as well as the Latin one.
7 isn't bad if you turn Aero off. I'm posting this from a Windows 7 netbook, "Windows Classic" theme.
HAHA! This sounds exactly like a Linux apologist from 5 to 10 years ago.
"Linux isn't bad as long as you don't try to play anything proprietary like a flash video or avi. And as long as you buy the right sound card and video card, you'll be fine."
Given that the man is 68 years old, has been doing movie reviews for a long time and probably one of his first experiences with video games as E.T. for the Atari 2600. I can't say I blame him for having his opinion set in stone for a while. Good to see that he's come around.
Insightful article. It was worth it just to read the bear in the woods analogy, which will give you a good laugh.

I think you missed a step. Unless you wanted to make a bird feeder. Also, this would be useless if the dish was the mesh type.

We've already gone through the first 3 stages over the past 15 years. And just so you're not confused, winning != world domination.
A lot of them sound like something you'd hear at the beginning/end of some song from the 60s or 70s.

Here's a picture for the curious.
Its also stupid to play the lottery. Unless you are the winner of course.
An anonymous scalar or something like that? Seems vaguely perlish.

Not to worry, it works really well in Wine. I've almost finished the game under Linux. Hopefully Torchlight II will also work in Wine.
Alan, is that you? Can I have some of your popcorn?
I skimmed it. But I was more drawing attention to overuse of the cloud term.
Why does it have cloud in its name? Just to attract attention or is there some related feature?
It seems your sig is 10 years old. Please update.
What do you mean? Twitter and Identi.ca aren't 10 years old.

I was kidding. But one can only hope something shuts down that huge pile of crap.
Please win. Please win. Please win.
and the license does not permit building it, only reviewing it, so this only lets you find (but not fix) accidental flaws, not malicious ones.
Oh noes, a license. That will stop em.
