    You have the right to vote for your representatives, but you have the obligation to abide by their lawful and constitutional powers

    A little bit of asymmetry between a vote to give a pre-selected candidate a job and the control the voter's entire life. Regardless of what government needs to be "workable" or what "fellow citizens" supposedly decided, every man has his own choice.     Right, background check is a waste of time since if there was a database that detected you were dangerous you should already be locked up; insurance for cars should also be optional, it's really to protect your own assets, if you murder someone it's certainly not going to do much for them.

    Banning nightclubs would of course make a nightclub shootings more difficult. My liberal city more or less did this due to disturbances. Don't think anyone believes that dry humping to loud music is a very high-ranking right.

    Don't know what the lineage of this particular law is, but police unions and administrators certainly lobby for laws to be created, and it's very hard to say no to guys with guns.

    Look into the public records of the cases yourself then, the majority are simply invalid (don't meet the definition of rape, are unprovable, presume the defendant guilty). Wouldn't say this is covered up, the general position is that it's OK for innocent men to go to jail if it makes women feel better
