I never got to see a Mercury, or Gemini, or Apollo launch (was a child for the first, and teenager for the last). But I just happened to be in Orlando when a Space Shuttle was launched, so I was able see to that. It was pretty awesome.
I have always wondered how much is reused. I have assumed that the engines are the most expensive part of the booster. Are they being reused? I have looked for that answer, but I have not found any info on this
Does anyone have any insight on why the core booster ran out of starter fluid and was not able to restart the needed 3 engines?
Is it possible that the core was shutting down and restarting engines during the accent to save fuel for when the side boosters separated and therefore used up too much starter fluid?
At the end of the story they said that since it was 2 black holes, it was unlikely that there would be any light from the event. What was interesting, was that they stated that there were unconfined reports of either a neutron star colliding with a black hole or with another neutron star a few days later. If this observation is confirmed, then there is a possibility that light could have been also observed from that event.
I found the movie pretty stupid. All the MI (Mobil Infantry) would huddle together like 8 year old playing soccer. In Heinlein's book the MI would spread out in a line about 1 mile apart.
Also the female lieutenant junior grade that was piloting the space ship out of dry dock in a very reckless manner would have been kicked of the bridge in a heart beat.
Something I have not seen is what was the top level domain on Hillary's e-mail address she was using?
Was is something official like: Hillary@state.gov (or secretary.of.state@state.gov)
Or was it unofficial like: Hillary@clinton.org (or secretary.of.state@clinton.org)
If she was using the official e-mail address, then someone in the administration of the top level domain.gov (or state.gov) would have had to be involved in redirecting the e-mail to the Clinton's private server.
phones already use cell towers and wifi networks which are a lot more accurate and faster than GPS
I am not sure about this, but I had thought that phones use cell towers and wifi to get general idea where they are at and then use GPS for more accuracy. Without the inital gross location, GPS takes a lot more time to sync up.
Apparently, at least one of the emails was about a NY Times article about the US classified drone program. Hard to imagine why an email about an article in a public newspaper would be classified.
If the person who sent the article from the public newspaper has classified knowledge and that person makes comments about the public newspaper article, then the e-mail has classified information.
I wish news organizations would press her harder with followup questions. I was listening to a NPR (my main source of news) doing a question and answer with Hillary.
NPR: Did you send or receive classified e-mails?
Hillary: I did not receive or send e-mails marked classified.
NPR should have followed up with: Did you discuss with anyone over your private unsecured e-mails system anything that should have been classified? (To have done that would would have been illegal)
During this Q&A with Hillary, she laughed and said that one of the e-mails that is now being classified was of someone sending her a New York Times article. How could it be classified if it was in the newspaper?
(I spent a year in Iraq supporting the US Army. At one point, a co-worker gave a google earth picture to me (by hand) of area around us. He pointed out that the picture originally was not classified because it came from google earth. But then he pointed out that he had made some markings on the picture and now it was classified.)
