No, Aunt Tilly is a retard. She's best off not knowing what a kernel is (besides something on an ear of corn).
IF Linux ever comes close to being comfortable enough for the Aunt Tillys of the world to use, modules should be loaded and unloaded dynamically via a friendly, Windows-esque GUI.
I believe I read somewhere that during Napster's heyday, cd sales were at an all-time high. After they shut Napster down, I believe I read that cd sales went into the toilet.
Coincidence? I think not.
I'll still continue to download various stuffs, and go out and purchase cds when I find stuff I like. Everyone, including the recording industry, would be a lot happier if they realized what a powerful marketing tool these p2p file sharing dealies are.
I haven't been able to find PGP Freeware on the pgp.com or mcaffee.com websites for a while.
But, apparently it is still downloadable from cnet - www.download.com, search for PGP.
Does anyone know if they've stopped making this, or if there's an url for updated versions?
The downloadable is version 7.0.3. It does include the regular pgp features, as well as the disk-wipe, which I'm assuming writes out zeroes to unused sectors. It also lets you specify the number of passes, incase the secret enemy has the technology to look at the "wiped" areas and determine what data was there previously, even though it's now all zeroes.
It also includes plugins for Outlook and Outlook express. It's definitely work downloading (while you still can).
Really, if you know what you're doing, there's nothing wrong with Windows, except the moral issues of supporting a monopoly.
Crashes? Lockups? Maybe once every few months, after installing some crappy shareware.
I'm considering switching to a higher speed processor, but mostly just for the coolness factor. There's really nothing at all wrong with 500mhz.
What gets my goat is that my company gives out 900+ mhz machines to morons who will never appreciate it, because they've got every tsr known to man running. Meanwhile, I do all my developing on a 733mhz. Which is okay, but the coolness factor dictates that I should have the fastest processor, as a power user. Oh well. I sleep at night because I know it's all so much silliness.
That's what we need... a Game Boy Advance ported to a steering wheel... display in center, buttons on wheel. Or, projected hologram-type screen which appears to float about 10 feet in front of the car.
Now that would be cool.....
If you email someone saying not to send Word documents (and I know this from experience), they are baffled. They don't know what file formats are. They don't know what ascii text is. They don't even know how to copy-n-paste for Pete's sake!!!
Asking actual end-users to use a different format, or copy-n-paste text, is like asking a monkey to set the table.
Plus, you come across as an elitist geek snob. Joe Jackass end-user couldn't care less about proprietary formats, open source, operating systems, etc. Until this elementary fact is well understood, open-source will continue to get the cold shoulder from the 90% of people out there who qualify as "end-users".
Because of Jar Jar Binks, I have not seen Phantom Menace, and don't intend to.
The Star Wars franchise went into the toilet with their first Muppet. George Lucas might be able to make another good movie if he can stop fondling his inner child long enough. In a few years, he'll be crawling around his Skywalker ranch wearing nothing but a big diaper, licking a really big lollipop.
I use MSWord all the time, and have for years. I don't recall it ever crashing without good reason. This is typically because of tsr's.
Plus, it's fairly easy to hit ctrl-S every so often to save as you go, on the off-chance it does crap out.
I find it amusing that many of the enthousiastic whiners about our Rights hide behind Anonymous Coward. They are so pissy about their right to free speech, and choose to do so anonymously. How's that for irony?
I've tried those, they hurt my thumbs. I wonder if there's a name for that? Another option is to learn more keyboard shortcuts. That way, you don't waste time switching your hand off the keyboard and onto the mouse, and back again. Anyway, I got tendonitis from using a regular keyboard.. had to wear little wrist braces. But, after using an ergo board at work, things got better.
This would be top seller, for sure! Really, who needs all the business crap in a PDA. What you really want, is Porn, Music, and Games (PMG).
Plus, they could revive Clippy:
Clippy: I see you're looking through your porn files. You seem to like Young Redheads. Would you like me to show just those files?
User: Ahhhh, redheads.
Clippy: Would you like to listen to Britney Spears while you watch your porn?
User: Ahhhh, Britney Spears.
Clippy: I see that Britney Spears isn't a redhead. If you'd like, you can change that. Click HERE to go to Preferences.

A series end with the complete destruction of the main characters. Maybe they all get eaten by aliens or something.
will be necessary to keep it from gunking up.

One word:
Godzilla.
But you're probably okay so long as you don't live in Japan.

"We expect to have the first full field-scanned images by April 1,"
Q. Why haven't marketing people realized that using April 1 as a target date, for anything, just isn't a good idea?
Really, did we learn nothing during the 20th century? How about March 31 instead?

Jep. The age-old quest tale.
You can also compare those characters to those in The Wizard Of Oz... a much better movie, in my opinion, than LOTR.
For more info, check out some of Joseph Campbell's stuff. There is nothing new under the sun.
Yeah, those stupid Ewoks, and that toad Yoda. What in the hell was that little creep all about? I expected Miss Piggy to jump out next!

By the time any of these Scary 1984 Big Brother type things get put into place, Jenna will probably have a daugther trying to buy booze illegally!

Really, I'm surprised that they would have to resort to actually voting. I was sure they just called the editor whenever they wanted to.
I'm switching to postgresql!
Actually, it's a vial of Billy Bob Thornton's blood.
Angelina got one too.
At least have the courage to fantasize about REAL women. Christ.

'nuff said.
How about pheasanting?

Good or bad, I don't know, but I think Dave Barry's street-cred(tm) is less than or equal to that of Danny Bonaduce.
