SuSE users don't have time for all that IRC crap! Our distro just works so we don't need much help. _Thats_ why you're not seeing much traffic from SuSE users...:p
SuSE 9.3 rocks. I'm using it in production right now...
It has been shown _over_and_over_ that downloading music is _not_ stealing. It is copyright infringement. Stealing deprives the owner of the use of an article. Copyright infringement doesn't deprive the owner of the articles use. It might deprive the owner of some profit. The whole idea of copyright violation as theft is a recent propaganda product of the New Right.
For some, "Internet Radio" services offer a way to hear new music before you buy it. I like Mixing of Particulate Solids Radio http://www.mops-radio.org/index.php
The argument could be made that MOPS Radio is _the_ definitive reference source for Ambient Music.
From parent post: "I'd say out of a given day my computer is sitting doing absolutely nothing productive around 16 hours or so. I can't turn it on and off because I often login remotely, but during the 2/3rds of the day it's not doing anything it would be nice to have it go into a sleep state of sorts, e.g. clock the cpu down to absurdly low states, heck even halt the GPU, lower the DRAM refresh, etc..."
Why not have ACPI do a "suspend to ram" and then "wake on lan" when you SSH into it (or RDesktop or whatever)?
That sounds just about right. Wanna get selected for _ALL_ the "random" security checks? Just check a firearm in your luggage. Go ahead and declare it like you're supposed to do. You will have more "security" than you can stand! Great fun! The nude airport would just be the icing on the cake!

Parent is best comment ever on this whole silly fracas. _Of_course_ Rockstar knew that modders would find the Hot Coffee stuff in the game. They knew the game would get re-rated because of it. It was a plan from the start to do this. _There_is_no_such_thing_as_bad_publicity! They will recoup the losses incurred from pulling the game in a less than a quarter.
The airport works just fine without the silly "flying saucer" outer case. You can connect other antennas to it as well. I took the case off of mine to make it easier to pack in my luggage. without the case it fits well into most laptop cases. the original Airport wall wart is a little harder to downsize.
And exactly why do you think that going to school will guarantee that the submitter will create innovations? There isn't much you can't learn about programming by reading and doing. Most of the really great coders I know are self taught.
if you're gonna be a programmer, don't go to school. The only way to be a programmer is to write programs. I don't think they do too much of that in school anymore.:-)
Lots of geeks are into guns. I've been collecting military-style rifles for years. I think John Moses Browning was a wizard-level geek, and all with only the computer between his ears! Did you know that the Lewis and Clark expedition carried a repeating air-rifle with them? Pretty geeky for them there days!
From the Article:
Microsoft's rival in this area is shaping up to be Xen. (snip) Xen doesn't yet support Windows, however.
I thought Xen DID support an in-house version of XP that was ported with MS's help. Also, no mention of Vmware as a competitor. I don't think this will impact Vmware's market share very much. There was no indication in the article that it would support NON-windows OS's.
Article gets low geek points: not enough technical detail!
Who cares about that Windows stuff anyway? I'm gonna be running OS X on Intel next year! Woohoo!
Yes, this idiotic article is set up as a slide show! Utterly stupid for an article thats mostly text! I would like to take this oportunity to tell the web designers who did this: "You suck". This is one of the true atrocities of the web, only surpassed by web sites that play music or sound effects.
To stop the slide show click the stop button. Oh yeah, it starts the slide show _again_ when you click the "next" button. So to read the article you have to click "stop" every time you click "next" or "Previous". One of the most mis-featured pages I've ever seen!
MS is still wasting too much screen real estate. From the screenshots I've seen so far (and google has lots of Longhorn pics), Longhorn's GUI really sucks.
I've been telecommuting for a while now. Overall, Its been really really great. Pluses: 1) I get to have my development environment exactly the way I want it. All my servers and linuxy bits just the way I want without having to get permission from some winders-usin' corporate admin. 2) I get to listen to music while I work, and no headphones! In most cube farms I've been in, we had to wear headphones to listen to music. Since there's no one home but me during the day, I can listen to what I want! 3) No time wasted on commute! I can get out of bed, grab some coffee and boot the machines. I'm billin' time and I haven't even had to get dressed yet! My 8 hours are done before the GF gets home! 4) Less money out of pocket: Less wear and tear on car. I'd be payin' for broadband anyway, and my phone is a flat rate as well. Less money spent on dry cleaning and laundering of shirts are other benefits.
Minuses: 1) You can't _really_ get away from your work. After a while, it begins to feel like work is always waiting "right over there" at the workstation. Weekends are more about getting away from the house now. 2) Not as much socializing. If you live for talking shop around the water cooler, then maybe telecommuting ain't the best way to go.

OK, I admit it. I watch ATHF. Sometimes its even funny. However, I hadn't heard MC Chris' "Fett's Vett", which is damned funny. 'Course I LIKE "geek rock/rap/insert genre here" music. At any rate, I figured that with the Star Wars references and all, that more/.'ers would like this kinda shit. Guess not...
Length: 4 in. / 10 cm closed -- 6.3 in / 16 cm open Weight: 8.5 ounces / 264 grams Materials: 100% stainless steel (Optimum grade hardness for each tool/blade)
There are two blades, one serrated and one plain. The blade length isn't described, so I measured my Wave. The length of each blade is approximately 3 inches. The sharpened portion of both blades is 2.5 inches.
I've had mine for a while, so far it had been a wonderful tool. Each tool/blade locks open, making it fairly safe to use. My Wave tool rides in the knife pocket of my Maxpedition Versipack http://www.maxpedition.com/product/product_vp_fatb oy_s.htm
Damn! That'll teach me to read all the replies! arrgh!

the mac mini can support the 23 inch Cinema Display. Do you need more pixels that that?
