    You can't use the standard keyboard which requires you to reach over to the shift key to access mathematical symbols and has the numbers way at the top. You need a numpad in the center (789 UIO JKL M works well) and keys around that mapped directly to things like + * and (. Screw the exponent symbol - numbers at the front multiply, numbers at the back, eg. 24(x+2)3 = 24 * (x+2) ^ 3. Map every key you can find to some mathematical symbol (you might want a specialized font). This will give you the fastest you can get without special software.

    They're missing very little. Many people use their computers mainly for web browsing and email, and if your computer is powerful enough to run the latest browser it is powerful enough, and you don't get much by adding more on top of that.

    ...in that it's not just a buzzword but an actual change in how software is developed which is not only creating "marketing babble" but also directing more and more IT spending. This is a fundamental shift away from traditional notions of the "Platform" away from operating system APIs and proprietary client/server applications to web applications and scalable third party servers. IT is spending less on capital expenses and more on operating expenses, and whenever this much money changes focus you have to keep your head on straight and your eyes open.

    There's the post but with the clarity it should have.

    Probably gravitational lensing making some of the gamma rays more curved than the others. Or whatever event caused them is not instantaneous (like every other large-scale event in existence).

    I prefer specialization. Someone has to do the IT jobs, and I would prefer it to be someone with a lot of IT experience compared to someone with decent IT experience and decent arts experience and decent sports experience.

    So you think people should have to upgrade their computers every 3-4 years to be able to run the latest operating systems? A lot of poor (and even lower middle class) people disagree with you, and would prefer an OS that runs on an 8 (or even 12)-year-old computer.

    Rational people want to make money so they can lead a relaxing life? Why? What's so good about relaxation? What's the point in getting a big house or a big car? The answer is because you find it enjoyable. Just because you enjoy intellectual pursuits rather than hedonism does not make you a less rational person.

    Many people who understand war support going to war for some causes, defense of your freedom being a very good one. But whatever the current motive for the war in Afghanistan is, very few people would consider it an adequate motive for war if they know what war is actually like.
