It takes bawls, BAWLS i tell you, to play the FUD like this one day, then chastise Microsoft for doing it another day. But, you can't blame them for trying to make a buck.
Thanks for that primer, that's as clear as mud for most people now. That reminds me of the Star Trek pointer scenes where the script just has the word [tech]. Then they get the technical writers to fill in those spots with plausible techno babble.
Man:
Evening, squire! Man with hat:
Good evening. Man:
Is your...is your wife a spammer? Man with hat:
I-I...I beg your pardon? Man::
Your...your wife. Does she spam, eh? Does she spam, eh? Eh? Man with hat:
Huh, sometimes she has to spam, yes. Man:
I bet she does! I bet she does! Say no more! Say no more! Know what I mean? Nudge, nudge!
Still, I am not of the opinion that it's ever as bad as "they" say it is.
I'll just shutup and go back to my code now...that I can do at home...without driving to work...so I don't have to pay for gas...that doesn't do as much damage as "they" think it does anyway...so there.
"Banging your head against the shiny new Dell Inspiron 600m keyboard...priceless. There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's Microsoft."
Heck with solving it. There are some things that just aren't worth solving. Now where can I find a software rendered four dimensional analog of a hammer and nail?
I'm going to stick my neck out here and say, What.In.The.Hell? Who's the editor on-duty here, an Onion stand in?
First of all, the example made is JavaScript, not Java. Second, the example shows how to bring up a page 23000 seconds after they left the page. Not good, but not new either. So what's the big deal?
You've got to be kidding. I didn't know Intellevision could run DOOM.
Will Grandma ever stop calling my Game Cube "Nintellevision?"
We support U.S. federal legislation that would strengthen the ability of service providers to shut down spammers by suing them on behalf of customers.
I bet, right now, Gates is grinning ear to ear as he inks up the old, "Find Them And Sue Them" stamp.
Listen to the audiobook, The Second Coming of Steve Jobs to find out (available on Audible, tell them that "inertia186" referred you).

It could have been from the ask /. section. Very little green there, especially when you go about half way down the page.
OBSERVATION: In the full screen of the expose desktop, Safari is all blocked out. Why? What incriminating website could he/she be looking at?
The Safari window is on Slashdot. Why it's blocked out, I don't know, but it's "clearly" Slashdot, to me.

You mean spiffy in dash technology like this?
Boffins? I always thought it was Bothins, as in "...many Bothins died to bring us this information...".

I belive this falls under the "some damn thing we can't think of" category.

We don't need no stinking Telcos (and ISPs)? We're doing just fine witho^ÏÆ'©âcgs7ww8

...but if we want a chance of keeping our privacy private, it has to be unconditional.
Oh? Show me where it says in the (US) Constitution you are entitled to unconditional privacy?
Imagine a beowulf cluster of those!

Besides this link being part of the original article, I don't see how this is related. If you turn off JavaScript, this applet still attempts to load.
Furthormore, I don't see how this applet violates the java security model. After running a netstat, I did not see a connection to www.hq.af.mil.

To hell with the Motion Industry Association of America and Recording Picture Association of America too.
(RI|MP) doesn't match correctly in vi, anyway.
What is that antenna for?
That's the gear shift, you insensitive clod!

"Hey buddy, can I bum a charge?"
Imagine a beowulf cluster of those!
...where's my flying car? I want my flying car, you insensitive clod!
