  3. Implement a memory management layer on Ultra-Stable Software Design in C++? · · Score: 1

    One of the most powerful techniques i've seen for c++ is to implement a thin memory management layer (gc, reference counting, caching and cache warming). This will make it stable to the level of JVM's and CLR's without a performance loss, assuming that all code uses this api (or simply preprocess on malloc and free). This can even speed up code significatly with hardware cache aware code.

    7. Know that with modern web development technologies, that product life cycles are completed monthly with milestones weekly.
    8. Make sure that the development process is Quality based with regression tests and configuration management.
    9. Be convinced that another team can easily manage whats developed at any time.
    10. Ensure that requirements are documented to ensure whats to be delivered is well specified and keep engineering documentation light and only updated after major revs because it is constantly changing.

    Totally, I am disgusted with the low quality of paper back tech books that I can get more from a magazine. Its interesting that O'relly is the only publisher that is worth its salt. My step father told me that "God wouldn't have made sheep if he wouldn't have meant for them to be sheard". Knowing that the greater percent of the population leave something to be desired as far as intellect, I can see that theses inferior books cater to the masses who might find the better books more difficult to grasp.

  16. Best Programming Reading on Pro C# · · Score: 1

    I survive by only reading the main book, not the book written about the main book.. This means only written by the manufacturer (such as Microsoft or Cisco), RFC's and W3C etc, and O'reily. The rest are all blurbage, storys and marketing. Additionally, check to see whats on the curriculum of the best Universities where often the professors wrote the book used there and at most major Universities. Perhaps the best is to just read the code (not the comments) of what you're trying to understand.
