This is THE SIGN! Linux is FINALLY TAKING OVER! Mark my words: in five years from now EVERYBODY is using Linux! Linux is the BEST OS OUT THERE! OOooo I'm so excited!
I'm getting tired of articles about the RIAA. But I also keep being amazed about how an organization can be that clueless and detached from the real world. Anyway, wake me when they're being dismantled and cease to exist, OK?
It's their way of getting the clueless to buy Vista. They never cared about satisfied customers, and the way things are going with Vista they need every sale they get.
I'm with you. Usually if you click on 'print' you get all pages on the same webpage (if you get my drift) but here it only prints what you see. No top 10 lists for me.
Yes but if you're a large company, or a non-profit organization, or a start-up, or a student, or a new-born, or a woman, or a single dad, or live in the third world, you can get a 'discount'.
Although approval of OpenXML as an open standard is pending, Rinsema argued that the format should be treated as an equal alternative to ODF.
But as long as OOXML is not approved an open standard, it's not officially an open standard.
I read TFA, and I must say I'm surprised at MSs reaction. They seem to me to be genuinely terrified about this. Instead of making a plugin for ODF they go crying about how many jobs this would cost and what not. Amazing. Why do they do that?
She was fired for expressing her opinion whislt on duty, thus misrepresenting her employer. She violated the agreement she had with the organization she worked for to remain neutral, and thus was fired. As far as I can see there is nothing particularly special or wrong about that.
That's what they did here in the Netherlands during the past ten or 15 years, on all school levels. We had people leave primary school who couldn't make simple sums and/or read and write. At my university more and more time has to be spent teaching first-years very basic stuff they should have learned in high school. I regulalry meet people at my university who can't spell properly 'because they are dyslectic'. Yeah right. Politics now comes to the realization that that is not good for the country. Finally...
I salute you sir. You spent a few hours with the puck mouse before admitting defeat! I didn't last five minutes. Apple is clearly the ultimate champion of rubbish mice, and the puck mouse this was their all-time high. It will be hard to come up with something worse than that.
The Mighty Mouse is by far the best mouse Apple has ever made. I replaced it with my trusty trackball after two days of use, because as mice go, it's one of the worst out there:) Even the cheapest rubbish standard USB mouse performs better.
Not true unfortunately. Our secretary gets a new PC with Vista installed. If it ain't the latest and greatest from Microsoft it ain't good, according to the IT people in our university. Sigh. In other news, my colleague who got his laptop with Vista last friday, put Debian on it after about 3 hours. According to him, Windows 95 is a lot better than Vista.

I suggest you read the article and think before splurting out clueless nonsense like you did here.
This is not about 'MS crap'. This is about open standards. If MS adopts open standards for use in their programs, their software can still be used.

It's not that after 6 hours you can throw half of the bottles away and the other half is magically still fresh.
Mod parent up! This is the most Insightful comment I've read in weeks.
Linux at the desk top is so next year.
Haha, that's a good one, I have to remember that.

Why sue? Can't you just go back to the shop and return it? It's a faulty product, after all.
Can we please have no more of these lists? They are not news, not even for nerds, and they belong on Digg, not on /..
GPL'ed, that would be nice :)
... the center of the universe ... king of the world ... the Supreme Ruler ... the one who knows best ... our digital overlord ...
A colleague of mine will give his wife a virtual machine with Linux running on it!

Same here in the Netherlands. But I can imagine the 'only in America and Canada' thing is more because of production problems than anything else.
Very good point. That way you can also get a phone with a provider you chose.
Really? That's strange. I have the older MBP, a 15" model with the ATI Radeon X1600 card, and 256 MB.
Let's hope Apple puts this card in the next iMac instead of the crappy ATI they put in it now.
