    There is currently more written content available for free to an internet user than they can consume in a lifetime. That does severely hurt their motivation to spend money on the production of more.

    Fresh water only has to be water without salt in it. It does not have to be clean drinkable water.

    Trouble finding the right thing in a huge database in a reasonable amount of time? I think I might have a tool for you, though it's rare outside of a few small nerd circles: It's called a search engine.

    If there was a turtle attack epidemic, how would we know?

    If the medical staff are given a worthwhile code search engine like we have here for purely entertainment purposes will it take them more than a few moments to find the actual code they need? It it really much harder to search through a database of a hundred thousand than twenty thousand? Just type in "fracture, left ulna", look through the short list of results, and you're good to go.

    From what I've seen and heard, there are actually surprisingly large number of R/C hobbyists in the military. Sometimes those toys find their way into the line of fire.

    So information to commit identity fraud should be kept private, but information that can probably get a person and their family killed should be passed around for all the world to see? Glad you have your priorities straight.

    This uncovers that other problem with the internet, the fact that it is right now different days in different parts of the world. Having the dates synchronized might be a good idea.

    Look, it may not be that way in the USA, but in some parts of the world unattended bags are actually a serious threat to life and limb.

    Nobody is forcing you to put any information on the internet at all. You have a choice to use their services. Take them or leave them.

    The distance between cars may not matter if the problem is something else entirely suddenly dashing into the street. Wildlife is a real issue in some parts of the world.

    I'm not saying making it mandatory, but when you see a cop and immediately think "scumbag", is it any surprise that only people who are genuinely scumbags aspire to the position?

    Still, the job ought to carry a little respect just in case one of the cops isn't a scumbag. If I was one I know I'd probably give up on the whole being upstanding thing after I see that everybody assumes that I'm corrupt and evil anyway.

    The thing is, they aren't the only ISP blocking VOIP. Telus in British Columbia has been disallowing VOIP on their 3G internet plans for a couple years because it interferes with their other business of selling standard cell phone plans.
