    Europe didn't spend the 50s,60s and 70s installing a cable TV network, it went straight from terrestrial to Satellite.

    I don't know where you're from, but here in the Netherlands, cable-tv has a coverage of 98% or more in all homes.

    Still, DSL is getting more and more popular, because the cable providers (like Casema and UPC) are simply offering a godawful excuse for service.

    will be searchable through E-Mailguide.

    De gegevens in de E-mailgids mogen uitsluitend worden
    gebruikt voor het verzenden van enkelvoudige berichten. Het
    gelijktijdig verzenden van al dan niet commerciële
    berichten aan meer dan een adres - mailingen - is expliciet
    niet toegestaan, zulks op straffe van een dwangsom van Hfl.
    1000,- per overtreding, waarbij elk bericht in een
    geconstateerde mailing als een individuele overtreding
    gezien zal worden.


    The data in the E-mailguide can exclusively be used for
    sending single messages. Sending multiple messages of
    either a commercial nature, or not, to more than one
    address (mailing), is explicitly forbidden, punishable by
    the sum of 1000 guilders per violation, where each message
    in an acknowledged mailing will be seen as an individual
    violation.

    I saw this on tomorrow's world (BBC TV) years ago, it must have been the early 90's...
    They were demonstrated on people in africa too, so this story is really really old.

    Yeah, it would have sucked if the swiss had abused radio and tv in the 1300's.

    Oh, please. He's probably been asked this question a billion times. He'll probably give you some bullsh*t answer just because he's sick of it.


    Well, "Devil In The Dark" seems to be his favourite episode. I don't know how the original message got modded up so high, the question is rather redundant. Even a quick google search could give you this answer.

    After all, there's probably a spot somewhere that isnt a landfill yet.

    There are a slew of others. Samsung, fujitsu , lg, quantum. And they all make decent products.

    Quantum was gobbled up by Maxtor, i believe...
    And for Fujitsu...

    Anyway, i haven't had many harddisks fail on me, the last one was a 8GB seagate, which failed after 2 years of use and got replaced without any problems.

    Most of the smaller harddisks i have still work, they range from 20MB-1.2GB and are of different vendors.

    DALNet has just had a bad period of DDoS attacks, a couple of servers still haven't rejoined.
    The attacks resolved themselves within about a week, when the IP for irc.dal.net was changed to 127.0.0.1, which turned the attacks on the kiddies themselves (quite hilarious).

    By the way, most of the attacks seem to be coming from universities like Harvard, Emory, etc... You'd think they would have something better to do with their time.
