Failed economies or failed corporations? The economic recessions in the 1800s (called "Panics" then) certainly did effect the common man with widespread unemployment and debt. We just don't hear as much about it because the "common man" at that time wasn't a middle class homeowner in the burbs. Also - just because a citizen is in agriculture doesn't make him self sufficient. How many families lost their farms during the depression? Land and machinery needs to be purchased somehow...
I'll only count the alleged majority of Republicans when Bachmann leaves the race. Until then, they're fair game.
So as long as any nutbag declares themselves a contestant in an *open* race you'll apply their nutbaggery to everybody of the party... Well at least I know where you stand. This discussion may end now.
Or if the dealer is buying your perfectly legal second hand item and you don't have a merchant account for a credit or debit card. Is it possible for a shop to simply put a credit on your debit card without you purchasing something from them first?
Running for president and losing popularity as people realize she's a nutcase... Your argument still doesn't hold water. Would you have characterized all Americans six years ago as gun toting Texas yokels? After all, we did *re* elect GWB at that time (collectively, as a nation). Or do you not count the people who didn't support GWB? Yet you would still count the majority of Republicans who think Bachman is a nutjob?
Is that what everybody is so terrified of? Islam spreading throughout the globe? Name one Christian sect which doesn't have in somewhere its core values "We are the one true church and everybody needs to join us to be saved." Name a country in the world that doesn't have Christian missionaries trying to convert the populace. In fact, let's just rephrase their motto in a way that most of the Western world will accept: "God is our objective. Jesus is our savior. The Bible is our law. Worship is our way. Go with God."
If you attack a religion it is going protect itself - usually by isolating itself. If you accept it, you can coexist. Get over your fears of people who think different from you.
Because American politics aren't divisive enough already... You aren't helping the debate by using the worst examples to characterize a group. Should we characterize all Democrats as their worst members? Your black and white view of politics is offensive and the core issue the US currently has in its two party system.
A corporation is just a body of people who are elected by the money *you* spend on their products and services. We really need to stop treating corporations as a magical money making entity or some mythical bogeyman. Corporations do great things to facilitate business, jobs, and the economy - we've simply let the pendulum swing too far toward allowing *people* to hide from their bad decisions inside their corporations.
Bad idea... I'd be tazing the shit out of people left and right. Sometimes it'd be to shut up that damn baby two rows back, sometimes it'd be to keep the guy who demanded a window seat from getting up to stretch his legs for the fifth time, sometimes it'd just be for fun.
Here's the grunt of the problem with a blanket axing of these departments - You say "not the NOAA, though" I say "Not the Interior" - BLM, Nat'l Forests, Nat'l Parks... They do a lot more than manage the crowds at Yosemite. Everybody will have a reason that to them is very good for keeping one of these departments around.
You (and Ron) are right, though. We really do need a close look at what programs done at the Federal level are repeats of programs done at the State level (education, housing...), as well as what Federal departments are duplicating jobs done by other Federal departments (homeland security...)
If the FDIC is in that situation, we are already in the middle of a much greater economic collapse and availability of your money in the bank is going to be a bit lower priority than say... the availability of food to eat.
Cars aren't fly by wire for weight savings as much as for efficiency - a throttle cable vs servos is sort of a wash. However, computer controlling your acceleration curve and fuel flow can give more efficient results when the driver mashes the pedal.
It's different... You can't drive a FWD car the same way you would a RWD car in a low traction situation (or vice verse). If you're used to one and drive the other of course you're gonna hate it and think it's awful.
Not sure where all the motorbike discussion comes from (I don't know anything about the MYT engine), but your displacement values and economies are a bit suspect... Most 650cc motorcycles easily beat 50mpg with sane throttle use. Mine consistently beats 60 mpg (and don't have a particularly sane throttle wrist...) and will break 70 mpg on a 50-60 mph highway. Even a liter bike will typically get at or above 40 mpg, getting 35 tops means you either have a particularly large and inefficient bike or you really really love your throttle.
Hang on HANG ON!! I think you're on to something here... If you have the RV, you can put your big boxy screenless laptop in there and carry that around with you as well.
Never mind, I'm on your side of this discussion now. F tablets! Desktops 4 lyfe!
That's the problem... they want somebody else to fix the problem for them.
"I don't like this, so I'm gonna sit here until you make it better."

I dunno this whole post sounds awfully indistinguishable from Libertarianism....

Sort of like your foreskin, amirite?

Oh don't worry, give us some time and we'll find a reason to call Child Protective Services.
Seriously... Somebody should tell these guys the Flying Spaghetti Monster is not real!!!
And donuts... don't forget donuts....
Not exactly Hollywood, but we did have Macgyver!

Coaster brakes only work on the rear wheel - if you need to lose a lot of speed in a hurry you are at an extreme disadvantage.
That said, I still love them on a low speed bike like a beach cruiser...
The rear doors in a coupe is a great feature that should not be lost.
Just sayin'... rear doors in a coupe is a wee bit of a contradiction ;)

Yes.
Would it be OK if I just prayed for an iPhone 5?
