It makes me feel good that the term "A List Bloggers" makes me laugh and this list of people (Michael Arrington, Om Malik, Fred Wilson, Richard MacManus) made me say "who?"
i signed up with blockbuster online a year ago and i love it. the fact that i get 2 free movies in-store a month is the kicker. it gets rid of the "crap i want to see this movie NOW" effect. well, at least twice a month. and i can use it for games as well.
anyway, i don't really have any opinion on the litigation, but i'd been wondering how long it would take for this to occur and what the effects would be.

Aren't documentaries supposed to show all sides of the story and pose the most important views so that the viewer can understand the whole situation perfectly?
What local characteristics must also be present, even if Silicon Valley is to be duplicated on a smaller scale? What draws technology companies to a specific location?
take a look at the rtp (research triangle park) area in north carolina. they seem to be doing a good job of recreating this on a smaller, but growing, scale.
"From the Salt Lake Tribune: a wary county clerk called in BlackBoxVoting.org to test the integrity of Diebold voting fraud machines, part of a recent $27 million statewide purchase (to make sure that only the "Right" candidates win). Diebold goon says machines are now jinxed and it may cost up to $40,000 to fly in a company witch-doctor to make sure there were no warranty violations. Since EVERY SINGLE VOTER who uses these machines is a potential hacker looking to alter election results, why is Diebold so concerned? "
way to stick it to the man with all that insightful commentary, dude!
hey taco, this is one of those times where ditching the submitted commentary is a good idea.
security experts say now would be a good time to back up your most important data, like financial information and family photographs, to CDs, DVDs, zip drives, or an external hard drive that you know is worm and virus free
but you have to remember that games have changed. yes, in a 2d having one directional pad works fine, but now that every game is 3d you need to be able to change your view independent of the direction you're heading and vice versa. any of the 2d games you can get for modern consoles don't use all the buttons and joysticks.
so i'll agree with you that new controllers suck for old games, and it would be neat to be able to get a stripped down controller for that type of situation, but really controllers have just evolved to what the games currently require. which is a lot of shit.
Why is it all right to censor and prohibit posters whose motivations are obviously suspect, while completely (naively?) ignoring the gazillions of posters whose motivations are probably no less base, but not obviously so?
why put a lock on your door to keep out those criminals who don't have lockpicking skills, ignoring all those criminals who do?
it's a clunky analogy, but i think it makes my point.
or maybe it doesn't. the point is yes it's perfectly alright to use this tactic to remove known abusers. they have to deal with the sneaky abusers as they can, but when you know there's a group using specific ip's then it's perfectly reasonable and right for them to block them this way.
And who says they didn't? As you pointed out, they got thousands of warrants. How do you, at this point in time, know that the program didn't get warrants for these kinds of taps?
if the program was getting warrants for all of them, why would bush want warrantless wiretaps?
well, it looks like all my google searches for "president bush fucking dogs" and "president bush sucking cock" will go unnoticed

you are seriously the worst poster who constantly gets modded up. i swear you couldn't hold a cohoerent, relevant thought for an entire post if your sorry excuse for a life depended on it. just because you spew your mental masturbation for paragraphs on end doesn't mean you've said a damned thing worthy, but for some reason the morons who mod you up believe so. please stop posting forever, you insufferable twat.
but i think that a user who gets a story posted to Slashdot should be allowed to link their vanity domain. Thats part of the fun!
you have a strange concept of fun.
look, it's simple, for most people who see this beatles beatles shit, they find it stupid and crappy and if your only reason to not get rid of vanity links in the attribution is because you think it's "fun" then what the hell are you asking people for suggestions? the solution is simple, attribution links should point to the user's profile, where they can list all the vanity links they want and if people so please they can click to their heart's content. but having the link to the vanity domain tied to their attribution for an article obviously invites abuse.
quit being such a child about it. "it's fun!" christ's sake, man.
you don't read much do you? i said "political musical humour". i love political humour. daily show is one of the few shows i watch, so i'd be lying if i said i didn't like political humour. it's the create a funny song crap which rides my ass.
