    They once cancelled my kids health insurance after an audit for eligibility (basically prove we were married and they were my kids). I submitted all the required documentation, but they misplaced it and without warning cancelled my children (but continued to insure my wife and I).

    As it turns out in addition to them being in the wrong (they located the documentation I submitted), the HR guy was gay, and angry about (then) same sex marriage not being allowed, so when corporate finally relented and agreed to turn the benefit back in, the gay dude refused to process the request because it was for a heterosexual couple (this is all in email) and left it on his desk for weeks.

    I had to quit to get coverage.

    When I worked there I used to ask the folks at Goddard why not explore the seabed.

    They all pretty much said because that is much harder to do.

    There were site generators, however they were not sufficient for live ops and additional capacity was drawn from the grid IIRC.

    A thermostat displaying the last 30 days by high temp, bubble sort is fine, and is easily fit into a few bytes in firmware.

  18. This is what decreases inequality. Not catastrophe.

    However catastrophe does indeed spur prosperity in many cases.

    I suppose the trick is to figure out another way to get the economic engine running other than wars and disasters.

    He might do shit that you and I don't - and trust me I really don't like him - but he is not Hitler 2.0 even tho he might want to be, nor will he sell the nation off to the highest bidder.
