    Fo those who simply refuse to RTA I will summarize, to wit: the article deals with the pace of Wiindows software releases and the recently announced delay of Vista... not the speed at which the OS loads and executes applications.

    I guess technically the wild life on New Caprica are aliens.

    Not that I have a problem with chicks with huge tits wearing rubber ears... but I usually pay for that in Vegas.

    Well, I have a Celeron 400 downstairs that I have had since 1997. It gets cycled every day. It runs like a clock.

    Stories aside, your reason has been proven to be BS in many forums.

    Only a partial solution (not even really a solution), but many of the hijacked PC's are left on all night to spew their viagra spam to the net or take part in DOS attacks (or whetever the hell they do).

    So... turn your computer off when you are not using it.

    Hell you will even same some electricity while you are at it.

    Seems like taking 8 or 9 hours out of the day for the bot to actually operate will atleast decrease some of the traffic these bots are generating.

    The practice people have developed of leaving their computers on 24/7 should stop... unless of course the computer is doing something more productive than generating elaborate mazes of 3 dimensional plumbing schemes.

    Incorrect about identical radar and IR sigs... this I cannot elaborate on (I admit this is convienient but it is also true). Specifically, decoys are *balloons* for all intents and putposes. They have drastically different ballistic drag coefficients... whenever they encounter ANY atmopsheric drag at all their tragectory becomes obvious. The moment they reenter they basically are stripped away from the threat.

    Additionally decoys are unguided. The will have an estimate impact over a point that is not worth defending. Also... they TUMBLE. Armed RV's don't. So ignore them.

    Spend the money on a booster and RV that looks like a real RV... then you may as well put a warhed in it. Simple economics. If such an target is detected them it must be considered a threat.

    BTW, I have only read The Hunt For Red October - liked it I will admit, and I work on the Navy's Aegis BMD program.

    There is much unclassified suject matter on this available on the web if you look. Really, I told you to THINK before you answered.

    Current events in China certainly back up your claims (rolling eyes).

    The air is so polluted there that the gov't is going to have to ban all vehicular traffic when they hold the Olympics there. Sometimes there is so much smog in the Beijing air the the sunlight is a grim yellowish brown color and everyone wears masks.

    While this is the case in LA sometimes, I figured you may as well know that it happens other places as well.

    While there is off shore exploration and production in the shallower areas like the US Gulf Coast, the North Sea, and the Persian Gulf to name a few I contend (with nothing more than wild speculation to back me up) that there are vast oil fields in the deeper areas of the ocean to could last for generations even with high single digit increases in demand.

    I won't even mention Antarctica. Oops....

    OK, is to too expensive to exploit? It is now. Is it worth while to travel down this fossil fuel road any further? No. But I suspect that there is lots of the "Texas Tea" to go around for those willing to dive for it.

    We can discriminate between decoys and warheads with a very high degree of accuracy.

    It isn't as hard a problem as you might thing (not that it is trivial).

    Spend about four hours REALLY THINKING about how one might do this before you fire off a knee jerk reply.

    False. The sea based leg has been tested multiple times with great success.

    FM-1 thru FM-8 (with the exception of FM-5) were all successful. FM-5 failed due to quality control issues in the KV thruster motors.

    Let's face it - the only thing stopping most nations from acquiring atomic weapons is that they can't get fissile material. When there is a reactor full sitting on their soil noting will stop them from using it if they so desire.
