    Ask the the people from SyNet, which was run out of business from fighting a trademark dispute with MS over their trademark on "Internet Explorer" in the mid 90s.

    This is completely retarded. This person has never played any sort of MMORPG. You NEVER, and I mean NEVER trust the client software to do any sort of calculation that would allow for cheating, including sending it the only copy of character data. No matter how it was encrypted, it would be cracked in all of about 2 hours after release.

    I can't believe this got modded up.

    This is complete assinine bullshit. Although office is a good suite of software, but it remains dominent because of a monopoly. Ask any corporation why they use MS Office. The top two answers will be: 1. Because everyone else does and we need it for easy document exchange. 2. It is too costly to retrain our staff.

    Everquest, alone, has a fanbase of over 375,000 subscribers who are willing to play a monthly fee to play.

    Just because you personally did not like the game doesn't mean that many, many other do and are willing to pay a trivial monthly fee ($13) to play as much as they want.
