This game is the biggest pile of crap Square has rolled out since their TOM SAWYER game for the Famicom. I picked up the Japanese version and played it for a whole 10 minutes before regretting buying it. It's total fanboy-catering - horrible story, and an abuse of the decent story that 10 had.
What the hell do you need the hard drive for right now if you wont play FFXI? As far as I know, there aren't any other US games that use it. If you're importing games to play...well import a hard drive too.
"...akin to cheating at solitaire, a source of false accomplishment and just one more instance of the fraying in society's moral fabric."
I fail to see how this is any different from what already takes place in society. Say for example, I screwed off my entire life until I was 40 years old, but my rich father ushered me into being president of the USA? Sounds mighty like having a secret code to me.
I am really torn over this. For one I'm happy that such a service that puts such annoying restrictions on how you can use the music is failing. Yet, the other half of me is sad that now the RIAA is gonna have something to run around screaming "OMG LOOK LOOK ONLINE SERVICE IS THE SUCK" with.
While many online games are very slow to fix bugs, you should not directly blame it on the developers. SQA's are usually in control of what (if any) bugs are fixed. At times, in large companies, the development team may not even know a bug exists.
For example, we had a major exploit in PvP in Everquest on one of the servers with special rules for combat. Two years went by without it being fixed. The actual dev team didn't learn of the exploit until they doing Q&A with a public audience, and were confronted with it. The devs claimed the SQA team had never notified them. However, the exploit was patched shortly after.
This actually made me laugh
and
there's more truth to it than seems. Anyone who knows Japanese culture to any extent knows why the XBOX isn't selling well in Japan. It's a similar reason that SONY/NINTENDO can't break into the huge Korean gaming market.
Grats on sounding like a 14 year old living out of Mommy's purse. I'm sorry, but $13/mo (about what most of the MMORPGs charge) for unlimited play is not "damn expensive".
This event has NOTHING to do with the Warcraft/Starcraft line of games. All of these people were from Blizzard North and worked on the Diablo series, which pales in comparison.
Blizzard is NOT developing Starcraft:Ghost. Don't confuse this. They are simply the publisher. The good people at Nihilistic are developing it as a third party. Though, given the quality of Nihilistic's last game, Vampire, I'm sure Starcraft:Ghost will rock.
You can chant your "no bloood for oil" slogans all you want, but a lot of us really believe that the world will be a far better place without Saddam in it.
Thanks for putting words in my mouth! Anyone who makes the argument that this war is purely about oil is a simpleton. Anyone who assumes that everyone opposing the war claims it's "blood for oil" is just as much of a simpleton.
I made a presumption about you based on what you posted - specifically your willingness to do something you don't agree with. "People like you" refers specifically to your comment about doing what you were trained to do, nothing else. I don't feel I entended anything beyond what you said.
This is such a bullshit statement. There is seldom honor in doing what you're trained to do. Many of the atrocities in history were made possible because of people like you, who justified their actions as duty.
Shame on you. Shame on my brother who is over there now. And shame on any other soldier who takes part in this.
Someone please write a script to search ftp sites for "Office" and additionally check for the OS licence on any hits. Then send the offending admins notification that they're in violation of the Open Office license...
No shit?
Ummmmmm. Since when have banner ads proved any source of significant income? Still living 1999 dotcom days?
Yes but at least that was entertaining for it's "oh gaijin are stupid and can't play complicated games" value!

I'll sell you mine for $299 when they come out
actually, better yet, hire the neighbor boy to push mow the lawn

Are you funny?

They were outsourced to save money, of course.
Can I mod your post as "-1 Fucking idiot" too for your inability to read my relatively low Slashdot ID number?
what we need is a new moderation option for the original submission: "-1 Fucking Idiot"
Could someone please point out the reference of this (42) to me? Sorry, I did spend several minutes on google and came up dry..
fuck them!
WAR on drugs
