From the original article: "The Olympic Games are accompanied with extended security measures that are unprecedented for Greece," six human rights groups said in a protest letter to Greek Parliament in July. "Although the state's right to take all necessary measures that it deems necessary is recognized, there is fear that these measures will have a negative impact on basic human rights." From the slashdot article: but even CNN says: 'Although the state's right to take all necessary measures that it deems necessary is recognized, there is fear that these measures will have a negative impact on basic human rights.'
It is not CNN saying these things, it is "six human rights groups" from Greece.
I can't find any instructions for Microsoft saying to turn off firewalls during SP1 installation (using google). Does anyone know where it says that? Even if it does say that, why on earth, after two virus attacks, wouldn't you try leaving it switched on while downloading the service pack to see what happens? (unless you just want to get an article posted on Slashdot).
"Nearly three-quarters of women surveyed by the industry group complained about being ignored, patronized or offended by sales people when shopping for electronics." Probably three-quarters of men would complain about the same thing. "40 percent of women surveyed responded that they were treated better when accompanied by a man." Does that mean that 60 percent were treated better when they weren't accompanied by a man?
inside a test for VC6 in your standard crossplatform header, then you can define those loop variables wherever you want.

It doesn't matter if there is a tail in the first 20, if there is then it becomes a head, so you end up with 19 tails in the first 20 and 19 tails in the next infinity.
If you use the "business" option you have 500mb download limit then 0.18$AU per MB from then on.
This allows you to connect your network (no fixed IP though). I chose that (I got it about 4 days ago) and now I seem to spend my time counting megs:(
But the business is no sure thing. Dinamation is in dire financial straits, with most of its dinos reportedly frozen in warehouses.
Seems dinosuars always end up getting frozen: ice ages, financial straits, when are they gonna learn and be warm blooded, oh wait...
As many other posters have pointed out, all they are doing is not provided a good MP3 encoder. Big deal, download someone elses.
They are not restricting what you can do on your system, they are just providing a crappy MP3 recording product in the (vain) hope that you will switch to their proprietary format.
The way I read the few details on the article, the "$50 a unit" means each 1cm^2 (about.25 of a terabyte judging from my credit card). That brings it down to only a 25 fold increase
Still pretty good, but if you take away the 8x compression (for text only - zip gets better than this) you get a 3x increase.
3-fold increase in gigabytes per dollar in two years? Sounds pretty normal, maybe even a bit low.

You've just described Wheelers (in reverse).
Your not crazy, they are claiming 10 times fewer incorrect classifications.
Although "10 times less inaccurate than humans" doesn't sound as catchy.

Be sure to play Nena, singing "Neun-und-neunzig Lustballons"
Hey, I'm not that scary.
But if you punch them in the dark, its a victimless service.
I think the root issue is the assholes who write the viruses in the first place, slack OS's and users just make their life easier.
Of course you could add the line:
#define for if(0);else for

The trekkies already know they are virgins, do they have to shove the 'V' word right in their faces?
A quick google shows that it was the BBC that banned it (secretly).
I couldn't find any mention of a ban in Australia, and they certainly played the song to death over here at the time.
Of course, if they are going to use these for commercial flights, I suggest we all invest heavily in steel plate manufacturing companies.
Of course they would only come in two sizes: one gill and two gill

Busted... now everyone at work is wondering why I burst out laughing.

Its not quite foolproof because "housing wants to be free"

Those effects look great, I wonder how long it will be before they appear in a Microsoft ad.
Because it is in the article
Although possibly if the "Bible" or "Shakespeare" etc... was their favourite book, they may already have a copy.
