Who gives a damn about "Lily Allen, George Michael, and Sandie Shaw" in the first place? Who are they? I can walk outside if I want to hear random nobodies waving their arms and yelling about god knows what for attention - why are we even discussing this? If all the MAFIAA can get are three random no-names to back a watered-down version of an evil piece of legislation, it tells me they're not only losing their war, but they're becoming more and more desperate as well.

Seriously, I'm completely blown away by the sheer insanity of people. Hundreds of tabs, several windows, 40-something YouTube tabs open. wtf? Go close the 147 of 150 tabs you aren't using anymore, close 49 of the 50 YouTube videos you aren't watching, and close the 4 Firefox windows you haven't even looked at since (apparently) yesterday.

Sometimes I catch myself having ~10 tabs open, and I become immediately annoyed and go close off almost all of them, except in extremely rare cases. And I close Firefox as soon as I'm done using it. Maybe that means it's open 20 minutes, maybe longer (especially if I'm watching a video or something). What are earth are people doing that requires Firefox to run for 3 days? Do you people sleep? How can someone be dumb enough to let 150 tabs accumulate and sit around? I don't understand any of this. I honestly can't remember the last time Firefox crashed on me, and I upgrade to newest versions asap. Doesn't crash on Windows, Linux, or OpenBSD, ever, even with Flash (on Windows) and a handful of addons.

Also, apparently I have the complete opposite reaction than a lot of you. The 2D Sonic games are really boring and dated, yet the original Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast was by far one of the best games of its time. Seeing as it's the only 3D Sonic game I've played though, I can't really vouche for anything further.

  6. "relatively government-free history." WTF? All of the most significant innovation in computers and technology came out of the public sector - government grants, defense contracts/spending, universities. Why do we object? Because we aren't fucking brainwashed, passive consumers and don't appreciate being treated as such. I haven't bought a video game in a long time, and news like this only makes me feel good about that fact. I want the video game industry to tank, along with the music, movie, and advertising industries. They can take their DRM, copyrights, product placement, and "personalized ads" and shove it. Wishful thinking, I know.

As an aside, if not for Adblock Plus, popup blockers, and similar programs/plugins/functionalities, browsing the internet would be unbearable. That's what advertising does.

As another aside, please buy nothing and "pirate" everything.

    Thanks.

Well, if you're talking about The New Pirate Bay, I doubt you're going to be able to choose where your monthly fee (or whatever) is going. All the cash will go into a common pool, and you're going to be funding the MAFIAA even if you don't touch any of their content - which is the biggest reason why you shouldn't use the new site. If you're just talking in general, I agree.

All one needs are public libraries and http://jamendo.com/ - there's much better music on here than any of the shit you're generally going to find on major record labels anyway. Imagine what your system is going to feel like if every program you run has developers with those same poor practices and sentiments. Plus, this is an alpha release. The actual release won't be for another (approximately, at this time) 2-3 months. How does one get update fatigue from upgrading your browser twice in about a year and a half? Actually, I don't see how you can't be excited, assuming you use your browser as much as most people, that your browser is developing so fast in important ways. (HTML5, performance, etc.) Have fun "not bothering" with that, I guess.

I'm 22 years old, and I think the last time I was required to write in cursive was in 3rd or 4th grade. It really has been that long since since I have. Starting in middle school, typing on computers was either encouraged or required, and since we had a computer in my home, that was the end of that. I'm tempted to go find a piece of paper and write some sentences to see if I can actually remember every single letter in cursive. I don't think I could. Of course, I can't personally see any inherent value in cursive writing, and I don't see its relation to writing/grammar in general. It's a writing style. Sometimes it looks purty. Nothing more.
