    We take dirt roads some with good and not so good conditions, not off road since the National Parks we go to don't like that, and the Exploder works just fine. And we hike too. But we also go with some young ones who are not able to hike very far. We usually have a caravan of vehicles doing this so as to not get stranded by a single break down.

    Are you on crack? I go to frequent camping trips, LAN parties, basically places where people and equipment go together for long distances. I always get to drive because my Explorer has loads of room for 5 adults and gear. It may not be the best in any one category, but for the price, it had the most room for people and gear. Plus I get to go on the back roads in the mountains/desert.

    Not sure if you are a Euro or not, but out here in the New World, we have loads of untamed land. If you like visiting said land, your little car will not suffice. Sure, SUVs don't make very good commuter cars, but then again, for driving the back roads of the desert, hitting the mountains for snowboarding, and the rest of the outdoor stuff, I'll take my SUV.

    Because the vast bulk of the funds go to emergency room visits. That is the only place were people without insurance can go. These same people do not have regular checkups which will catch the reasons they are in the emergency room to begin with.

    Americans are funny things. Apparently apart from the obvious firearm reference, Shotgun means "riding in the front passenger seat"? Well, okay...


    It is a reference to the guy sitting next to the stage coach driver. That guy carried a shotgun to ward off bad guys. Hence the term.

    At least as it looks right now, the only system that's even going to be an improvement over GPS is Galileo, and even then it won't be by much.


    U.S. already has the new GPS IIF nearly ready for launch. And GPS III is in its early stages of life. The technology does not stand still.

    What a silly statement. Not only was SPAM popular in Britan, during WWII, it was also popular in Hawaii. Today in Hawaii, you can go to McDonalds and get SPAM and noodle soup. And since my father is from those islands, I also grew up eating it.

    nevermind the fact that the russians were the ones who beat the germans, or at least 2/3 of their army. d-day only happened after the eastern front had been essentially won. and if the americans didn't have the a-bomb, they would have had to rely on the russians to beat japan, too.


    What utter bull crap. Try reading about the Lend Lease act. The USA funded a HUGE portion of the Allies war programs including Russia. If the USA did not do this Russia would have fallen.

    Uhh, wasn't the fact that BSD was under the cloud of copyright infringement with AT&T's Sys V that caused BSD's slow usage? Linux came in right at that time to steal what could have been BSD's thunder.

    At least that is how this old dude remembers it.

    And Solaris is a straw man. SunsOS 4.x and older was BSD based. And what NFS, NIS, etc are nothing? As for SunOS 5.x, which is more commonly refered to Solaris, is Sys V Rel 3 based.

    It is funny how people are so quick to denounce USA that they praise USSR as being the savior of Europe. USSR helped, a lot, but it was the factories of USA that beat Hitler and Japan through direct involment and supporting those who were in the War before USA joined. We sent tons of stuff to England as well as USSR.

    False staement. Funny how many America haters forget history. You do realize that USA sent tons and tons of supplies to the USSR went Hitler was going east. The USSR would have fallen if it wasn't for our help.

    Yeah, never mind the bullets, missles, and bombs deployed from the F-14 that killed countless people...but it NEVER dropped Agent Orange, so the F-14 was kind to humanity.


    As much as I consider myself a progressive, I find it odd that people still don't understand that humans are violent. And probably always will be. The need to have armies and weapons will continue until we are all dead.

    If you're inconvenienced, killed, afraid, paranoid, lose civil liberties; they really don't care. Its not their goal or objective.

    Which is why I really don't care about them either. And right now we are the stronger.

    If the US withdrew from the Middle East you would probably see the domestic threat of attacks decrease or stop entirely.

    I doubt it. Their leaders use us as the boogey man just like our leaders use them. And besides, we will never abandon Israel.
