Reminds me of the case where hobos found a radiation device at an abandoned hospital and proceeded to force the thing open and smear the radioactive goop on their bodies in decorative patterns.
Remember, kids: If it glows in daylight, STAY THE HELL AWAY.
Slashdot is a Western website. "Industrial Revolution" generally refers to the West. Get over it. Hell, this is an article debating the merits of California vs. Seattle!
Nonfunctional? I think the better term would be dysfunctional; they function all right, just not in the interest of those they originally were supposed to represent.
Love how I've gotten 2 Offtopic and 1 Overrated mods on this comment: 'Overrated' means 'I disagree with your viewpoint' in practice...and how is this not eminently on-topic? We're talking about how the police are going to use a device specifically being designed for them for this exact use case.
I had a professor in college by the name of Alsup. He was the head of the Black Student Union and got kicked out of campus for suspicious business with their funds.
What do you mean, you can't declare war on nouns? War on Nazi Germany, AKA World War II...and, y'know, basically 90% of all other wars fought in history...
An idea is a subtype of noun. Person, place, thing, idea.
Sure, as long as you plug in a keyboard and mouse, put the tablet on a stand, overclock the bejeezus out of it and aim a giant fan at the back to keep it cooled...
I would call desktop computers the one part of the consumer industry that *isn't* a niche...debatably including laptops in that. Smartphones and tablets are subsets of functionality; desktops do everything but make calls.

'Days'? You remember 9/11, right? Try months.
God forbid a nonreligious person be associated with being morally upright...

Yeah, vote 'em all out, Democrats and Republicans alike.
Lawyers. And usually the dumbest people they can find, who don't know about either programming or jury nullification. Because why not?

You're worried about the *Democrats* giving more money to the 1%? AHAHAHAHAHAA
Sigh...
And who picks the juries...?
Or vagina--er, I mean, Google.
Like hell I want to give facebook my phone number.
You have a very different definition of 'trivial,' my friend. Physically disassembling hardware and figuring out how to read from a hidden chip...
If you *never* have to enter passwords (not even a master password to unlock the store?), I would be very suspicious of this tool's security.
Fair enough. If we just ban talking about it, how are we ever going to resolve the issue, though?

You really think there's *enough* silver for these guys?!
To say that the world was in "6 years of hell thanks to the Nazis" is a rather narrow-minded viewpoint. The Nazis were a problem long before 1939.
How do we convince bad people that their viewpoints are bad if they can't legally tell us what they are?

Somebody should implement a Piet fingerpainting interface for all those touchscreens. That would show 'em! ;)

Hmm. It kinda looks like a desktop now.

The course was specifically x86 assembly, so yeah, I concede your point.
