One feature I forgot to mention of this device is the ability to store ANY type of file on it. It's basically a portable laptop hard drive enclosure with a big LCD, and mp3 decoder. =)
I have a Genica roopaq (originally neo 25)with a 20 gig hard drive plugged into the input on my cd player and it works great. I used a cell phone clip on the back, and mounted it on the dashboard. If you want the newer relative to the neo25/roopaq line you can go with the neo jukebox Which is basically a better version of the roopaq / neo 25. The best part is that under 2000 and XP i didn't even need to load drivers. I plugged it into the usb port and it recognized the scanlogic usb2ide controller and mounted it as an external usb hard drive. To copy songs, just drag and drop. With the latest scanlogic firmware i've read linux success stories for using this device with linux as well. (works with macos too, but if you have a mac, you probably have a ipod) The only complaint I have is that it took a little more than 2 hours to copy my 20 gigs of mp3s over usb.
I have owned a classic athlon for nearly 2 years. The processor was equipped with a dual Fan heatsink. One of the fans failed 8 months ago (it was not a amd heatsink / fan combo/ but was made by a third party), and me being the cheapo I am didn't replace it. About 2 weeks ago, the second fan died. The Athlon in a linux box with 200+ days uptime rebooted itself magically. I didn't open the case because I was busy at the time, and it stayed up for about a week. It rebooted again, when I opened up the case, I noticed my poor athlon didn't have a single fan to cool it. It didn't fry, and it actually ran for a week with NO heatsink.
I'm glad to say that she has a new heatsink / fan and is back up and running stable as ever.
Gotuit Video, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gotuit Media, Corp. Both companies were founded by Logan, who is also the founder of MicroTouch Systems, Inc. (MTSI) a $160 million manufacturer of touch screen systems. He was a board member of Andover.Net, parent company of famed tech community Slashdot and a leader in the Open Source movement, which was recently sold to VA Linux.
I've been using ripit.pl for a long time. It's excellent, who needs those bloated gtk programs running in the foreground when you can do it all from a command line. CDDB included.
Don't know if you guys have seen this, basically it's a google message board where a guy predicts dead on that something terrible will happen on the 11th. Scary.
They can't play segasTyping Of The Dead As the screenshots show, it is possible for a game to be very entertaining while teaching a important skill at the same time. Juvenile delinquents would thrive on this sort of stuff.
Apple will probably beat major pc manufacturers to include it as a standard option on all their systems as well. Just like they did with USB, Firewire, and even Gigabit ethernet. Too bad their hardware is so expensive.
Is it just me or is computing going backards. It used to take 2 seconds to boot into DOS, yet it takes 20 seconds or so to boot into Windows 2000. We have various gui based medical management software that we manage at my place of employment, but the old dos versions were far more efficient. Call me a hermit, but I think that the "user friendly, gui=productivity myth" needs to die. Visual basic should not be used for ANY production applications. Especially in mission critical system. That aside, I would like to thank all of the crappy programmers, for providing me with job security. As long as your stuff breaks, my future looks bright.
You are the CEO of a financially trouble linux company. Your tech stocks took a real plunge. You must somehow maintain your customers faith, and restructure the company to be a dominating force in the market. You have just sent out the letter, and the future is in your hands.
I wonder if loki will think it's a big enough hit to market. (sell the life story and turn it into a game, kinda like a twist on pee wees big adventure)
uh oh, i gotta run............ here comes a spork.
The cure worm would not infect systems, it would only clean allready infected systems. The cleaning would take place when an infected system scans a "bait" pc. You say this is a bandwidth problem, but a few hundred k patch as opposed to the hundreds of megabytes of bandwidth the worm eats when scanning seems reasonable.
Ok, First I'd like to say that I had this idea, and submitted the same exact story to slashdot about a week and a half ago and it was rejected. It included the idea of a passive code red virus, that only fixed active hosts that probe a machine that I like to refer to as a "code red trap"
If network admins worldwide were to put up anti code red stations based on a modified version of the code found on kuro5hin...........
(essentially a mouse trap for code red)
It could run in the background, install the M$ patch then reboot the pc.
(or popup a dialog requesting a reboot)
my 2 cents.
My Cable Company Did this too! As a result I was the first on my block to get a cablemodem. As long as it benefits the consumer and provides and / or enhances life for the community I don't see why it should be a big deal. Of course it is expected that they repair any damage done (grass etc) when laying stuff like this out. We had a ugly trench in our yard for a few months.....
I apologize, i didn't proofread.... Roks no longer has anything in the company either. And he comes onto the long standing hotline server badmoon where I spend much of my time on the internet. He seems to be a good guy. However; there was a time when he was imaginably upset with the current situation of hotline, and with hinks running off with the AW code. He basically disowns hinks in these chat logs. He was practicing smart business, and that doesn't make him the bad guy. I'm sorry that the post was unclear. =) Roks is okay by me.
I have a bunch of undisclosed and unofficial chats from hotline servers with hinks. Basically he moved from australia to canada at age 17 to work with investors. His sister dissappeared, and he went home to be with his family in their time of need. If I can dig them up I'll put them online, it includes finger pointing from both sides (hinks, and jason roks who was then with hotline) and gives you a better overview. Yes hinks did break contract, but the tragic circumstances surrounding it have been played down in the press.
Hotline is the first peer to peer program that I can remember that really took off.
I remember discovering Hotline Client back in 1997. You would often see Hinkley listening to the people on various servers, (boffomac, etc) I also remember the battle between HLC, and Hinks. The whole sob story, his sisters dissappearence, his breaching the contract with HLC to go home.(what 17 year old wouldn't). Now the company is out of the hands of ROKS (Jason Roks, one of the canadian investors) I still use hotline 1.2.3 or an unix clone hx hx.fortyoz.org I really guess I don't have a point here, but this story struck close to home. The non competition agreement he signed ruined a few of the best years of his life. I hope the best for hinks and his family in the future.

For the remote you can always use the good ole X10 mouse remote.

New Slashcode seems to be holding up even under this load.
My most sincere condolences go out to the people and the families of those who are effected by this act of terrorism.
I only wish the press would not speculate so much, as it is causing more problems, and we don't need any more problems today.
I just want to go home, and hug my family.

Smart one: now all they need to do is ban your entire proxy list as well.

Consumers would look at the benchmarks instead of the mhz, and then make a decision for themself.

Price / Performance AMD is winning, and the p4 2.0 isn't all that much ahead of the Athlon 1.4
I can see it now. Hungry unemployed IT workers lined up at the @homeless shelter.
Because it is counterproductive to their business plan.

My gaim client still works. Am I missing something here?
