I would disagree on one point, many lower income people use the library specifically for the internet. I don't see libraries remaining a repository for books much longer, it is easier to go digital for many of these things, at least for those of us who have the money.
Second all your points on the Kindle with the Nook. Selection is very good, you can often find PDFs of many useful things (I have all the Linux Documentation Project books) and you can even get books from other sellers like Fictionwise.
E-ink even is made from ink, so I don't frankly see the difference. Also, when was the last time you could change the size of the font on a paper book? I even upgraded recently to the Nook color, and was surprised at how good the screen is, it is just as comfortable to read as my Nook B/W was; it is even better in low light, I even keep the backlight at its lowest setting and never have an issue. You do however sacrifice the battery replacement ability of the B/W version, but the battery seems to last about 5 days, with wifi on, so it seems that the battery is much bigger then the B/W version (backlights take more power, Android takes more power, but it lasts about the same)
Do you ever travel? Ever traveled for more than a week? Just because you can't see a use, doesn't mean there isn't a use. E-book readers are very popular and your resistance isn't going to change that. I love my Nook, when I was looking at the need to send it in for warranty repair, I even went out and bought a new one so I didn't have to live without it.
I was going to reply with links, but I guess it is no longer the case...
There used to be special media that was sold for music recording, it had an additional cost associated with it to pay a licensing fee to the media companies. It was also the only media that would work in the stand alone cd recorder devices. This was in the US, but you are right in that every blank disc in Canada has a built in fee to pay for "piracy"
Do you have ceiling fans? I found they are absolutely terrible with the vibration. I use CFL in all the places you specified as there are some that turn on pretty much instantly. I have real florescent in my kitchen, as that is how the house came, I have a halogen floor lamp in my living room, and compact halogens in all my ceiling fans (you know the ones we all put in to reduce heating and AC bills?)
I would even add, they fail 10X quicker if you put them in a ceiling fan. I had to go with halogen bulbs for my ceiling fans as they were burning out CFLs about once a week.
Did I say anything about pirating? Your above comment was about supporting the artist. With the Doc Who example you give, sure I agree, there is no other way to support the artist, but are you being deliberately obtuse? Do you somehow disagree that Metallica gets a larger percentage of you going to a concert as you buying a CD?
Always remember that the US was designed to be a Parliament of Tyrants and it makes a lot more sense. Yes designed. At the time of it's founding most nation-states were unfree hellholes and the people proposing one country one vote knew that.
As the picture page is Slashdotted (just waiting for the story, Anonymous attacks Iranian web server) I cannot see the pictures, but as Windows 7 has no cluster capabilities, it is possible that is a management console.
Some of us have to buy it so that the people who produce the product actually get some decent money for it.
So you like the fact that you are supporting the record label in their absolute screwing of the musician? If you want to support the musician, go out to a concert.
Additionally, if you examine the shielding on their optical patch cables, you'll note that they use inferior machine woven helical strands, while the top of the line companies use hand-woven triple helix pure silver.
Yeah, I mean, I think they should make cars that blow up if you don't check... hoses,... wires,...
Those items can actually cause the car to explode or burst into flames...just a thought, it isn't as impossible as you are making it out to be. When you are driving around an item with 10-40 gallons of highly flammable liquids, it can explode. Good reason to respect the maintenance schedule.
Personally, the even worse part to me is what other people can post about you and it automatically is linked to your name. You could really ruin someone with good photoshop skills and a vendetta.
You should have compared the video cards than...Mac Pro is not cheaper then the equivalent Dell, I have checked, and that is BS. Written on my work Mac Pro (not my choice...)
I am currently typing on a Mac Pro. Mac is expensive junk, the only reason I use one is that I am a sys admin, and have to support Macs, so I got the Mac that is closest to the PC I would normally get (for 1k more than the equivalent Dell that was two years old and being replaced...) Macs absolutely are only status symbols. The people around here who use Macs look at the Dell servers we use and call them plastic junk, which I find hilarious as they are way stronger and better designed than anything made by Apple.
If you want to get an idea of why items made by Apple are expensive junk, compare the prices on Dell, HP and Apple 30" screens. They have the same features, and use the exact same LCD panel.
That is exactly what I was saying, the dispute between Comcast and L3 is quite public, the one between Comcast and TATA is the one I posted about which indicates the exact same thing. Comcast is perfectly happy to over sell their bandwidth to their customers in such extreme amounts that it overwhelms their upstream links, L3 offers to upgrade them to handle their needs better, and Comcast tries to extort money from L3, crazyness!
Ok, so it doesn't bother you that Comcast allows their links to be maxed out most of the time...good to know, while I hapily download at 25 Mbit on my Fios connection (the speed I signed up for)
Considering that Comcast was trying to extort money from Level3 publicly for the connection on that link being the same way should have no bearing on the validity of the public post though.
You're a double poster.
You're an idiot.
Cower some more, feeb.
You're completely pathetic.
The shift key lies to the left of Z and the right of /, please learn to use it.

are your torch and pitchfork ready? I'll meet you outside his house.
Unfortunately, they really aren't that far apart...

Nice typo, makes just as much sense.

$20? God, you can't even get on an airplane for that...

You sir are a genius, you should have logged in.

Personally, I never understood, why Chuck Norris? Bruce Lee, sure, Steven Seagal maybe, but Chuck Norris?
Lol, I tried to continue the joke, but unfortunately your password turned to *'s has too many junk characters...

Except the example he was speaking of was the BCC target hitting reply to all...
