That's right. It annoys the piss out of me when folks, regardless of the issues, get in your face about how their party will fix the issue and how the other party caused it.
The next big issue will be tax increases in 2010 - it's gonna happen even if there's a 100% Republican control in the Congress. But, that's another issue.
The border patrol is just looking for stupid criminals and terrorists - like that old guy with the young boy and the camera with the incriminating evidence. It's also for "security theater".
On the other hand, the smart criminals and terrorists will get away with it and then there will be more infringements on our liberty to "keep us safe" - from the stupid criminals and terrorists. Then the cycle repeats.
âoeSpammers have taken full advantage of both the economic uncertainty of some and the trustworthiness of others for their own rewards. Automated tools, resilient botnets and targeted spam campaigns are all part of the spammersâ(TM) toolkit and they are constantly evolving these techniques to outsmart any effort to stop them. No state is immune to the affects of spam.â
Whenever someone asks me about a spam email and whether the email is true, I respond with "No legitimate business uses spam, unsolicited email, or whatever you want to call it. They are all scams - no exceptions."
Start educating people that that email in their inbox is a scam. Period. And maybe, just maybe, one day those crooks will stop this shit.
It'll get there. I'm expecting a really shitty Christmas season - there are more job loses coming. When these guys start seeing their sales keep falling, they'll lower prices more to get rid of inventory.
You see, when a company fucks up, they call us at The Goat and we send them a person. Said person "works" there and takes all the blame and gets fired. The company looks good and we make money.
Legal fuck ups cost $100,000 for the goat plus our markup of 100% for a total of $200,000. The $100,000 for the goat allows him to live for a while until the public forgets about him. Goats for white collar illegal activities will run on a sliding scale. But let's say you have another Enron type of thing. That'll run you well in the tens of millions but the upside is you get away with it (and your hundreds of millions or billions) and our Goat goes to trial and maybe even jail for you (extra million per year sentenced). Sorry, we won't offer any services for violent crimes, mafia stuff, or political hanky panky - sorry Congressmen, Senators, and any ex-Presidents.
You see, MS is planning different versions of Win 7 for this. Aside from the Win 7 Home Basic, Home, Standard, Business, business Ultimate, Ultimate and Ultimate Top versions of the OS; they will have the Win 7 Tablet touch Home Basic, Tablet writable Home basic,...well just calculate the combinations (nCr) of "Win 7", "Home", "Tablet", "Business", "Standard", "Ultimate", "Pen", and "Premium". Run all the combinations and you'll get the editions that are offered by MS when this is ready.
Wouldn't most people who would NEED a supercomputer be able to build one much more cheaply using a dozen workstations?
Is there any networked or cabled solution that's as fast as a bus on a motherboard? Having those machines communicate with one another and syncing the computations is a lot of overhead that reduces speed and adds complexity.
I see computer animation uses for this. I also see math geeks (hobbyists) buying their own to run their current hobby project. Engineering departments using one to run simulations at a faster rate and cheaper.
It's cheaper than the Apple solution so I see movie editors using this.
I can't stand these folks who insist that they have a right to infringe on others intellectual property. Apple spent millions of dollars on R&D to create this device that has revolutionized the online music industry. Apple the iPod helped Apple stay out of the commodity PC business and boost them back into a great growth company that they were back in the 1980s. Then these parasites come around, use Apples IP to piggy back on its hard work and money.
Thank God someone has the good sense to finally value IP.
Take away the loopholes and they'll just move everything to another state.
Yes, that's exactly what I would do and I have no problem with any company that does that or moves overseas to avoid our Byzantine and asinine tax system.
What's going to happen? The scammer asshole coughs up his assets to the Government and does any of that money go to reimbursing the victims? I doubt it. The victims would have to file suit against this low life and get what? Nothing because the Feds took it all.
What I tell friends and family and anyone who wants to listen: consider all unsolicited emails as scams. The same for telemarketers - if you're on the DNC list, then those people are breaking the law by calling you which makes them criminals. You don't want to do business with criminals, do you?
Junk mail a lot (too many) of times are crooks too - you know the "checks" that come in the mail for you to deposit and send money via Western Union to others.
Some day, one of these assholes is going to scam the wrong person and they may end up wishing they've gone to jail.
The whole point of the doomsday machine is lost...if you keep it a secret! Why didn't you tell the world, eh?!"
Well, if you read the article, it points out that it was really a deterrent for the hotheads in the Soviet military. They knew that there would some sort of reprisal if we launched the first strike so they didn't have to launch the first strike to beat us to the punch.
It was in the article, - oh Slashdot ID 20178. You've been here a while and yes, I'm 1,630,681 so I guess I'm new here...
If I find a hole in my Government's IT security, I'll keep my mouth shut and let the government hear about it from the Chinese or the Iranians or the S. Koreans or...anyone but me because they'll send me to jail and make me pay.
All of us or at least most of us are in IT or have been. We all know that software, especially on this scale, never works as designed. Add to the fact that *snicker* it's operated by a Government, it will not fly.
This is what will happen: millions of Pounds Euros, or Dollars will be spent on proof of concept, maybe even some code and who knows, a delivered system. One way or another, it will turn into a complete failure and abandoned or drastically scaled down.
This is Government and their contractors who will do the absolute minimum piece of shit they can get away with to pad their pockets. They're not interested in anything that will work! They're just interested in something to show the voters that "they're doing something and it's with technology!"
God Bless government incompetence and government contractor greed and incompetence!
I don't know about you, but I've been modded down for something that I thought was spot on but apparently insulted some fanboy. I've also been modded up to +5 for the stupid shit.
If the prices are what I remember they were back in 2002-2003, though, he's gonna need a lot of lube to absorb the premium he's gonna pay for the hardware.
Thanks! Between you and the guy above, I have this image of folks "gerbiling" with the Apple mice stuck in my head. *shudders*
That was taught in Micro Economics, actually.

I'm thinking that they turned just about every service off in order to get it to pop up that fast.
If it is booting up as a fully functional system, then kudos to them! But I am skeptical.
On the other hand, the smart criminals and terrorists will get away with it and then there will be more infringements on our liberty to "keep us safe" - from the stupid criminals and terrorists. Then the cycle repeats.
They're finding a lot of water in space recently.
They just need to find the ethanol now.
For fuel of course! - *looks side to side*

That's peanuts compared to the cost of doing an internship in another state and then leasing an office. Nintendo requires developers to have a dedicated office and experience in the mainstream video game industry.
Nice barrier to entry there. I bet current game developers just love that.
So they teach about porn?
Yeah! And charge $10 for the "game". It'll have others do the dirty work and it will help pay for the war itself - brilliant!
Yes. I was expecting vertical take off and landing not that roll down a runway; although, it was a rather short roll.
That's right. I used to be with Messerschmidt and Spitfire beat them!

You just know the gamers will jump on this!
This thing will sell like hotcakes.

That doesn't really matter in the face of what can only be described as the world's most perfect opportunity for a Dr. Strangelove quote.
Ah. So that was what the "whoosh" sound was going over my head.

Never mind.
I'll learn.

....fucking Apple Cinema Display
Damn! Is there a video? I tried googling "apple cinema display fucking" and "apple cinema display porn" and nothing.
So, what was it fucking? The DVD drive? or the USB port?
